These would be some of the closest ones, just check the measurements:

I thought about this brass one for my brown cord western shirt that came to me without a concho button:

but there are so many other great options under their southwest/concho buttons page:

It's a great little shop.

Bookmarked!

Thanks for your comments. I had no idea the RRL distressing was realistic since I haven't seen a genuine-patina leather jacket/belt in person. I quite like the distressed aesthetic too, I'd only want to get involved if it's convincing.

Cool - any suggestions for Japanese repro brands?

Good to know about Polo distressed, thanks. For the RLPL distressed, I came across the Ridley Leather Bomber Jacket, which is "hand burnished". Would you guys say it's as convincing as RRL?

Thanks, I love the way you put this.

Between the two I strongly prefer the RRL version. The distressing is tasteful and realistic. Feels even better than it looks.

I'm tempted to get it so I can finally live out my dream of looking like this icon.

These look identical to the buttons on my Gambler that keep breaking. That shank can't hold up to the cowhide. The replacements I got from the rando amzn/etsy/ebay seller seems to have a more secured shank. At least none of them have broken so far.

If I remember correctly, someone here, I think it was @WaltDud, found an online source for replacements? And that source also had several other cool related items.

Recall that. A lot of mine have an extra one sewn to the care/origin labels along the side seam, and I’ve been assured by local RL team that they always have some on hand in event I ever lose one. Thanks for reminding me though

Wow nice!! Is that jacket from the current collection though? Doesn't seem to be available in my region

This one is outstanding. It's made to look like it was black when it was new, but that was decades ago! Definitely more aggressively aged than anything in the PL line. The aging in the PL line is well-done, but everything in that line has to look "nice".

I recently bought this pair of RRL shorts on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/306036434961, and to my surprise they came with 2 patches on the inside. Thing is - I can't figure out if this is by design or not (I wouldn't mind if they're by design, but I also would rather not be mislead by a listing). Does anyone have a similar pair or know when these were made?

I do not think that is by design. I cannot recall any shorts that had that sort of patching, and certainly not in that location. There is probably a story behind the need for those patches, but speculation is risky.

Are those reinforcements where the belt loops are attached?

Pretty sure there work pants somebody altered into shorts
I found another ebay listing of the same pair in a different size https://www.ebay.com/itm/226362852342. But that listing has no mention of these patches either.

Agreed

They're not. they're located between the rear pockets.

Thanks all for the insights. I do have other pre-distressed items from RRL so this threw me for a loop, but I'll probably send this back.

Naw man. This is the internet. Speculation is a core value.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
