Wow, interesting - that was a bold move! Pretty cool idea; glad it worked out!
You mean OCD move? ha ha
I end up altering most of my clothes…went far with this one.

This Pic shows the original outward facing fabric. I received the shirt and thought …would be so much better if it were flipped inside out so let my seamstress rip.

As you can tell from some of my posts, RRL jacquard shirts are my favorite thing the brand produces. They feel like shirts made from an antique/heirloom blanket or quilt.

Right, all that about the outline of the shaft, etc. LOL!
The shaft circumference on my Red Wing Pecos and RRL Walkers are 13.5”. My Slim Fits have a circum. at the hem of 12.75” and at the calf it’s just under 14”. I leave extra length in them to get that stack, but they still ride up the boot when I sit and won’t come back down when I stand up unless I pull them. So I guess not only is the Slim Fit sometimes tough to get over boots, it gets disproportionately tougher in smaller jean sizes. So yeah, I’ve got to do the Low Straight and thankfully now, the Slim Boot. And especially to get more material to cover the vamp.
Thanks for the banter!

I do think the issue is probably your size/s. I can scrunch my (size 11) boot shafts and get the legs of 32 30 Slim over. actually less printing (outline of boot shafts) than I’d thought there’d be, and my pant legs don’t really ride up when sitting or bending down. But, like you, I find it all a bit constrictive, so I hardly wear the Slim any more. 32 30 Straight also fit over and don’t ride up. Funny enough, the only other RRL pair I own is 31 30 Vintage, which obviously fit over but do ride up when sitting. personally don’t really like the look of stacking (unless it’s exactly one, and I’d probably have to get a 32 length hemmed to pull that off), so, like @sterlingindigo, I roll with being a greenhorn. Thanks to both of you for teaching me a new word, by the way

I don't really like the look of stacking either, if it's what I think it is. What I typically do with length is considered a "full break". But sometimes I end up with more or less length, depending on stretching or shrinking.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
