In my experience I've never paid customs from rakuten but they warn you that you are susceptible every time you order in the order notes, also they declare full value. I think its 99% safe shipping with EMS but it may differ if you arent shipping to USA.
I am shipping to the US (NY). Wondering whether to use EMS or Small Packet Service--EMS is darned expensive and the jacket will be heavy...

So @Fycus was on the money--the stores cannot provide details of the composition or season. Any RO fans/experts want to take a guess at what sort of treatment the jackets have?

I'm torn because both of them seem to be in great condition and I probably won't be conned, but I have a specific preference for f/w 08-10, Crust if at all possible...gah.

One is a medium and the other is an xs, that is more of a debacle than choosing season. One will fit and the other will not...

FWIW I go through Ragtag/Rinkan and similar type stores every time I'm in Tokyo (which is often) and I've never seen any rick leather worth giving a damn about. Generally, good pieces, especially at those prices go quick. If it's unsold for more than a few days makes you think twice.

Dep on your size it's not uncommon to see FW10-12 intarsias for ~1k in B/S markets. I see XS sit around for longer due to its size. y!japan auctions is good place to look too, lots of smaller sizes there, and in general easier to gauge the quality of the jacket.

Has anybody ever replaced the zipper on geobaskets/jackets/anything Rick with a zipper? The zipper tape is fine but the pull itself doesn't "lock" anymore.. would a YKK size 8 pull work?

Anyone know the best way to clean a pair of Geobaskets? I wore mine to my university's homecoming football game/to the bars during the game and now they're covered in all sorts of crud and dirty as ****. Water, Reno, brush?

Magic eraser over dish soap and toothbrush? I know they're both abrasive, but I get a little weirded out using magic erasers at all knowing that's it's basically sandpaper

Use shoe cleaner, available at cobblers for ~$10 usd a bottle. Has to be in a compressed can- it smells like (And I think is) ammonia based. Does a great job with a terrycloth towel and/or a toothbrush and is safe on suede, leather, rubber, etc. Much preferred to magic eraser.

I've seen places take off the sleeve from the shoulder, shorten the sleeve, and restitch. You wouldn't want to deal with shortening from the cuff side with zips. That could be a good options dep on the jacket. If it's not possible, you basically have to pay for the zip area to be redone which is a hassle.

Either way, it's possible but pricey. Make sure you find a reputable tailor who works with leather in your area

Thanks. I decided not to bother with the two that had caught my eye on Rakuten. Too many uncertain variables. I actually caught my FW09 intarsia for around $700. I'm an S (what's the equivalent in numerical sizing? 46? 44? 48?). Curious about Y! auctions but it's in Japanese...

I've had my stooges taken in from the cuff. They moved the zipper and it looks as good as new. Ended up costing around $150
