Just picked up this black jacket super cheap. Looks grey in the photo but that's the lighting. It has a brown tab which I've not seen before. Wondering if it's fake? Not too bothered as it didn't cost much. The quality seems on a par with genuine levis stuff I have though.

That brown tab looks like faded red. Is the back of it the same color?

Yep, same colour on both sides. I don't think it's faded. This may have confirmed my suspicions about it being fake though, assuming brown tags don't exist.

they difference is the one doesn't use overlock stitches to bind the cut allowance so it ravels a bit at the edge .

the pantaloon model does the same thing except on that one they actually taper into the selvedge . i'm guessing it's b/c the original versions didn't use overlock stitches .

the overlock machine was invented ~1880 so it maps

Can someone advise on sizing for the LVC 1953 Type II jacket? This is a medium (40), which is one size up from my usual small. Will it shrink down to fit with a warm soak? The arms are my area of concern....

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
