It surprises me that William field isn’t mentioned anymore. Field was always the DC gold standard. Of course, William is very expensive. But if you have something you don’t want to get messed up, he’s the man.

Just got my emissions extension from MD, which is now due after we're set to be moved out of the state (at which point all vehicles other than the Bonneville will be in a MT LLC) so no emissions testing horsesheeeet again!

This calls for a celebratory dram of 1792 sweet wheat, I think.
Can to describe the benefits and uses of the LLC for vehicles? Is it a tax thing? Wondering if it's worthwhile for myself.

Will Field is very good and was my go-to tailor before I started using Christopher Kim (who recently retired). Three issues I had with Will: (1) his pricing (both expensive and non-transparent), (2) his location (Georgetown and now Capitol Hill), and (3) the length of time he took to complete work. Apparently he requires appointments now. If I had a challenging job, I might use him again. As it is, I need someone mainly to let out pants in the waist, seat, and thighs, so a lesser tailor works for me.

Totally agreed. His pricing is rough - ask up front if that’s a concern.

He takes forever too. BUT, if you have something you can’t afford to get messed up, he’s the only game in town. Also, I’d argue, if you have something from kiton, brioni, etc. Go to William. The handwork in those garments - if you want a similar level of work when it’s refinished, William is the man. For fit, I think you could argue William is the man, because he has seen so many high end garments, he can better alter to keep the intended silhouette than others.

However, if you’re taking a j crew or brook brothers suit to him, expect to pay more than the garment’s value.

The polo coat search is over. Don’t mind the button I got it so I can fix it.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
