Yeah I experienced this in my first jobs. All transplants, mostly insufferable. And this was true in normal office jobs, too, not just things related to politics and policy which by their nature draw people to DC.

For me, the tell is seeing Nationals gear. They didn’t exist until 2005 so locals were either Orioles fans or fans of some team they had a family connection to. Transplants have their cars and office spaces slathered with thr stuff lol.
I only moved back to DC because the nats came to town, otherwise I would have stayed in Boston or nyc. I gave up on the O’s when all the Baltimore people started whining about DC fans coming to the games. Somewhere around 1995. Made me realize that they’re very different cities.

I can't find a good reason to even go into DC anymore. Everything is better in NoVA.
:(

Food in general? Unless you are looking for a specific genre of food, like Korean, which is far better in Annandale.

I can find great versions of any type of food in NoVa. Any type of cuisine you could want I can find a great version. The only thing DC has over NoVa is cocktail bars which only maybe Tyson's/Reston could compete with and I'm not even sure. Old Hat in Old Town is cool but that's only one. Casa Luna is actually pretty cool and has great drinks but tiny.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
