Interesting you say that. I got a seed-stitch jumper in the archive sale and sized down. I take a 42 from William Lockie (21" pit to pit) and so took a 38 in the seed-stitch (20.5" pit to pit).
Just my experience. I have a few Drakes knitwear items and all fit fantastically in my normal size. But the Drakes shawl cardigan was clearly small and slim. When I contacted Drakes about it, they said it was extremely common to size up in the cardigan. I did and, again, great fit. As I've mentioned before, I've had infinitely better luck consistently fitting into Drakes knitwear than their tailoring, which I've had frustrating experiences with.

I second your comments on sizing up. I'm not a fan of slim clothing and a lot of Drake's stuff doesn't work for me for that reason. I'm a size 40R sport coat and I got the William Lockie shawl in size 44 (22" chest). Returned a size 42 which fit OK in the chest but was just too slim and short everwhere else.

I got to wear my purple cashmere-silk scarf I picked up from the factory shop sale today and it was perfect for 5-8C weather.

Nicely done. I don't personally feel comfortable wearing a tie with jeans--I like one or the other--but this looks great. What season's the jacket from? Don't think I've seen it before.

The over shirts are made by drakes in their shirt factory that they own in Somerset, so completely in house. Fit is true to size, although I believe some people find them a little short in the length iirc. Shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re taller than average.

From AW 2019. Appreciate that - I generally agree that ties and jeans don't look great; this was for a Zoom meeting, so didn't really matter what was on the bottom half and figured it was worth the experiment.

Hat tip to @dieworkwear for his writing on this over the years - incredibly helpful tips on how to make it not, I think, look like a total nightmare

I'll be the third to comment that I also sized up on the lambswool cardigan to size 40 and I wear a 36R sport coat. The size 38 was fine, but the 40 had the perfect loungey feel to it with just the right length.

Does anyone have experience with Shetland Woolen Co's shaggy crew knits? Trying to find a cheaper version of these Drake's brushed shetlands

I like them. They have a slightly more boxy, vintage fit than other Shetland sweaters. The wool is really soft due to the brushed treatment and not too itchy. My only gripe with them is that they have shoulder seams and not saddle shoulders which is a design detail I prefer on shetlands.

Good to know, thank you. Do you have experience with Jamieson's? Any ideas on how they compare?
