This feels like the beginning of another James Bond talk.

Bond films are just male rom coms

Doing anything related to James Bond is more embarrassing than drinking vodka.

I could be wrong but I seemed to remember him hating James Bond as a menswear style icon or dudes who wanted to emulate a JB look...

Nah, he was totally right about Bond but it’s weird that though he saw through that bit of repetitive nonsense, he was always posting pictures of England’s designated layabouts, especially the Nazi duke.

I could be wrong but I seemed to remember him hating James Bond as a menswear style icon or dudes who wanted to emulate a JB look...

I've always found James Bond to be boring - the sorta kits-chy movie that might be screened on silent a sheet at a college party, along with Barbarella. There is zero tension in the movies. There has not been one, aside from one or two of the Craig ones, in which I didn't think that I could get a snack for fear of missing something important. I thought that a more coarse, less refined Bond was a nice departure from the monotony.

Honestly, I much prefer rom coms. There is more dramatic tension in Adam Sandler getting on a plane to intercept Drew Barrymore's marriage to a guy who nearly for sure loves James Bond, than in all the Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies.

Christopher Lee was just perfect in horror films. No pun intended, I really loved him.

agree , I watched one of the mission impossible movies with my old lady the other nite and it's really funny how the plot gets handled in these , it's like there's a fight at dinner and somebody switches their face out and then a little dialogue and then they're in Malta somehow and now he's flying off a cliff on a motorcycle . the exposition is always so condensed that I always know what's happening but never why or how . i suppose like surf movies or appreciation the 'plot' is just a thin excuse to get to the real action . college parties indeed .

these days if I'm going to sit down with a movie I really prefer to chill with slower more expansive scenes . i've been watching more lumet , tarantino , etc .

My take on those I'll fitting suits was the measurements were taken months in advance before he went into serious work out mode and put on 10-15 pounds of muscle.. no time to remake 20-30 suits

This was a common fan theory (I thought it might be the case too) but no it turns out the fit is deliberate. It's all over the clothes he wears in his personal life too.

the filmmakers do explain the tailoring ; I've never read the book but in terms of the Craig movies in casino royale there is that train scene where vesper 'reads' bond for his pedigree and outlook and then has a tux made for him via rock-of-eye lol .

CR tried (badly) to have this plotline of how he always wore good suits, but didn't appreciate them until Vesper made him though there were a lot of issues with the execution. But in CR and in all the other films, the filmmakers are running on the assumption that all the suits are perfectly fitting.

Not quite. It was some #entrepreneur Twitter account that was talking about how there needs to be a James Bond brand of suits and that would transform menswear.

Derek himself has frequently posted photos of Sean Connery and Roger Moore's excellent bespoke tailoring in response to the hate he gets from Craig's fanboys.

Yeah he was the other extreme and as a great example of the media being clueless, I remember in 2006 or so he got named best dressed man somewhere and the example pic was distressed jeans with the vest and jacket of a mid gray worsted pinstripe. Looked awful.
