I have a pair that look just like these at home, although they are dusty as hell. They were given to my father as a gift, I don't know who gave it to him. I was thinkin to surprise him with a brand new pair this year. How much do they cost if know about the specifics and where can I buy them as well?

These are bespoke, so they will cost you much time and money (and it wouldn't be a surprise). Never seen something similar as ready to wear.

It looks like Russian Reindeer just a little…from a grain perspective. Very nice! I’ve never heard makers I’ve worked with offer this up. Any interesting properties? Is it very costly?

Isn't it just Horween Hatch Grain?
NM, I missed that the OP said it was lama.

OHH REALLY! but money doesn't really matter to me when it comes to my parents. But the time part can be a little bit tricky for me. How much time does it take for a bespoke shoe article, like the one I mentioned before, to be made?

If you want Nic to make a pair. You would need to meet him at his home city or on a trunk show

As a new client, you’d have to have your father meet with Nicholas to be measured…then the last would need to be made and likely a trial shoe for first fitting.

Figure a year or so to get a first pair delivered.

Well I haven't planned that far yet, cause tbh I don't even have a clue as to what my father's shoe size is haha!! and also since it's a bespoke article I want, I don't even know what other type of measurements I need to take sneakily without him knowing!!

Bespoke process means after measurements are taken…a wooden model of the clients feet need to be carved from wood and then worked by hand / file / rasp…

Then leather is hand stretched over that wooden last and nailed on…layer by layer. Everything is hand stitched…And the soles and heels are carved by hand as well.

Look at this video as an example of the process…and this does not include the measuring / last making process.

Makers will also have a long backlog of clients waiting for shoes to be made…

This…

Bespoke isn’t the solution here. Unless your Dad would like a gift of the entire bespoke experience…A “surprise” will require other means.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
