I've just received Kurt union wash in size 29, and I dont get how they are supposed to be worn. They fit me as high-waisted jeans, but on the website it's stated that they are mid waist. Are they supposed to sit on the hips, and not high?
they fit me as higher waisted as well, I also find them to be quite long even with sitting higher up and have been considering getting them hemmed

Just embrace the versatility. That whole collection was very slouchy and grunge inspired so I think following your usual rules on how denim should fit kind of defeats the purpose.

Also I don't remember them being that long. Of course this depends on how tall you are and how long your legs are but I think the usual length is generally fine. Nothing worse than pants that look good standing up but as soon as you sit down they ride up and now your hairy ankle is showing above your boots.

Apologies in advance as this is mostly off topic and I’m very drunk as Christmas holidays are (finally) around the corner and my gf was gifted some gin just today so gin and tonic it is. If you’re not bored please skip.

Jeans was the first clothing item I was remotely interested in when I first came across Styleforum many moons ago (15 years ago? my account is 12.5 years old but was a lurker for a while); before that, I absolutely hated shopping for clothing. It’s embarrasing now but I was almost 30 and my parents were still buying clothes for me because the ones I wore were literally falling apart.

I moved to London, found a job in Kensington (still the same one now! just working remotely) and there was a Diesel store nearby; I was really bored as I didn’t know anyone outside work and found some really distressed jeans that caught my eye, and I bought them. They were £190 and found that crazy, but to be honest my “favourite” brand up to that point was Levi’s which is infamously expensive in Europe compared to the US and is considered posh here in Spain (my country of origin), and I was used to pay (or rather, my parents were) like €100 for a pair of jeans.

Anyway, I was loving my Diesel jeans (Larkee, regular/straight, then I bought a couple of Krooley ones, carrot model) when I went to Selfridges in Oxford Street (bored, again) and they had PRPS jeans there: they where £300 if not £400 or more! But damn, they were so nice. I googled and of course, David Beckham popped up: he was like an ambassador for the brand, he wore them all the time (always baggy ones though! wrong thread lol); and he had joined Real Madrid so he was all over the news (Spanish ones at least).

I bought at least 4 pairs of PRPS jeans at the time. A couple of Barracuda (straight cut; one of them raw, my first one) and another two GTO ones (bootcut lol).

Then the slim/skinny trend came along (slightly more on topic lol)… and I got a pair of Dior Jakes… never loved them though and sold them brand new. I also got some RRL jeans along the way. I also got a few raw denim jeans after my initial PRPS ones.

All this to say: I’m fairly inclined to nostalgia, I’m feeling old as a nearly 45 old dude (you’ll get here in no time), and some time ago I decided that expensive jeans were just not worth it (compared to my favourite clothing items, leather boots and jackets) so I’ve got cheap ones lately, but I kept thinking: damn those PRPS and RRL jenas I had felt nice. So I searched for RRL jeans (expensive, even second hand) and PRPS (surprisingly affordable in European platforms like Vinted, not eBay lol).

… and I came across this pic which prompted me to write the wall of text above: Beckham (I presume largely irrelevant in the fashion world these days) wearing possibly my favourite Hedi jacket: the Paul blouson:

Aaron Taylor Johnson (seemingly one of the 5 actors in Hollywood getting jobs lol) also wore it nicely; same fit minus the shoes.

Thanks for sharing. : )

Piggy backing on this: what are you all (or y'all as they say in the south) going to do to sate your clothing addiction with Hedi Slimane not putting out new clothes? Is your style heading in a different direction? Are you going to look on the second hand market exclusively?

Same **** different toilet. I have spoken about this before but since I picked up running as a hobby and started eating better I had to sell a lot of my SL and some Celine jeans as they became uncomfortable or simply didn't fit at all anymore, which is a weird problem in my life that has never happened before. I still own some Rick jeans because they are way stretchier than anything Hedi ever produced. Both last year and this year I've become addicted to Boris Bidjan Saberi pants, which I own multiple pairs of and wear almost every day now. It was a convenient time to redirect my style slightly. I don't plan to lose weigth just to wear my old jeans again, if anything I plan to gain a little more. It's just suffering from success of course so I'm good.

That's not to say it's a big change though. I am still skinny and when I look in the mirror I look exactly the same as I did two years ago, but when you physically can't fit into your 98% cotton 2% elastane skinnies anymore you know you've changed.

The Kurt from SS22 (eg. Clear Sky wash) was shorter.
The newer versions (Trail wash, Indigo Raw, etc.) are longer.

That explains it and my pair is definitely cropped. I'm seeing some of the longer pairs and in that case I would indeed agree they'd need to be hemmed to get the fit right. I think that's what made the fit nice, whereas the new ones seem just like any other pair of baggy denim. They kind of lose their character that way.

Great boots - 100% on the right sans chain. It looks cleaner and more natural.
I suppose that's what makes the chain somewhat interesting, as it's almost always juxtaposed to black leather, but there's probably a reason for this tradition, too.

Thanks! It's actually not really sans chain, but the position can be switched. Meanwhile I also prefer the look on the right, as it is way more sleek with the thin leather vs. the thick chain. Plus the chain on top has definitely more feminine look combined with the tan suede. Only downside of the right look is probably the chain making constantly some "Cowboy"-sound while hitting the sole/heel, but maybe this is also a pro in the end :D
