GG - yes, that's the best part (the zippers on the cuff!), also, Made in France is an interesting bonus to my mind. It makes the jacket a touch more aggressive without being in your face, is surprisingly useful for getting into and out of if you're wearing something chunky underneath, the only problem is that if I'm typing at a desk, etc. it can get a bit clanky if that's a term.

youwhat - you're not referencing the Keith Richards photo, right? That seems quintessential leathery, Keith and seems to click a lot of boxes in a fun, louche manner.

haha, thought so. I'm not too familiar with la nouvelle étoile but it seems every week there's a new Netflix show/IT person. 90% of them have to do with British royalty.

That shirt collar cafe racer is very nice. 48 would most likely be too small though. I didn't try that at the time, but the jackets I did try during SS13 were very small fitting.

I'm in the same boat where I just can't find anything to buy, especially leather / suede jackets. Hopefully next show will be more my thing. I've bought a few boring but necessary basics but there's nothing that really takes my fancy. Considering the black monogram travel bag but I think I'll probably end up waiting for a similar shape in black leather.

when he takes pics of people like that i just think its lazy / rubbish...
I can see how him taking pics of Timothée feels more genuine since he has built that relationship with Timothée before he really started popping. It is like Hedi saw something in him and recognized that he has that IT factor. Discovering diamonds in the rough.

He does look good in trench coats.

Can recreate that kind of look with Celine pieces to make it cooler.

just seems like he's googled most popular tv show of the moment and picked whoevers in it.
like having cindy crawfords kid on the last fashion show (and whichever other famous peoples kids (that he supposedly 'streetcast' bollocks)).

he's liked so much **** (people / music)

(i didnt mind that show and thought that guy looked pretty cool too)
Slimane's street casting is such a fairytale. He may street cast SOME from the bands he like, but he works for huge fashion companies, he need some "approved" faces and bodies. And he cannot have the time for designing every detail, casting every model, photography, and everything else he does.
One of his muses at Saint Laurent, Grace Hartzel, went to a Saint Laurent casting. (https://intothegloss.com/2016/03/grace-hartzel/)
This handsome fella's last name is Brosnan. (you may know his dad from James Bond)

But I think his companies cast the coolest looking models, by far.

Although I'm not always a fan of the models, I can't help but understand Hedi's reasoning. It is to give more authenticity to the pieces he creates. At the end of the day Hedi makes glorified cosplay or reproductions. This is almost the furthest from idea of "authenticity" one can be. By having models who "live the life" wearing the pieces, it imbues a certain energy to the look, like casting a great fit for a show/movie to play the role the director envisioned. Now whether people who can appreciate this without the context of why Hedi casts who he casts, I do not know.

Sometimes I have to consciously blur out the model's face to help me to better appreciate the look Hedi is presenting. Hedi's Celine Classic Bowl Cut from fw19 was also pretty atrocious. Looking at the Celine runways, these models are the only ones who face complements the clothes to look good.

haha, yes, that's great. For instance, I'm wondering what would be the Celine version of Peter Doherty, since he at his peak (and the whole Libertines band for that matter) seemed to fit very well with the chaotic Dior Homme ethic that he was presenting earlier.

Does any one have this jacket is cotton and not wool?

I just received mine from therealreal and tbh it’s kind of lack lustre in regards to the quality of this jacket

I paid close to $700 for it in excellent condition.
Aside from a button that fell off when I tried it on. It’s ok but certainly no wow factor.

just wondering what the experience is with this jacket if someone has it in their collection

Tks

The original design Hedi was inspired by is made of wool and maybe blended with other things, so I would be suspicious if if the Celine version is a 100% cotton piece. Hedi pretty hyped at the start of Celine already and if I remember correctly, people were making fakes early.

The original version is prone to creases and it is very off putting since this looks dressy. I'm glad Hedi was able to elevate his version so it looks better and feels like it wouldn't crease as crazy as the original version. But I can see how it can't be too luxe or else it would lose "authenticity".

Cafe Racer jacket in question just came in. 48, same as my SLP L17 size. Sleeves are long as I expected, but shoulders and chest fit correctly. I wouldn’t be able to size down to 46. I do agree with the sentiment that this fit will look better with Hedi’s more recent loose aesthetic, rather than all the SLP D02’s I still have in my closet. Regardless, sleeves too long, or workable?
