^^^^^ regarding the NYC beer shopping

Flair is pretty ghetto looking... from the outside. Inside it looks like a Costco or a **'s with tons and tons of beverages. I would say that they have mostly Dogfish, Stone and all types of imported beer. The selection is not as amazing as New Beverage or Whole Foods but it is MUCH MUCH cheaper.

These are the 2 best in terms of selection in Manhattan (there are great places in Brooklyn from what i have heard). The New Beer place is pretty crazy. Just TONS of stuff. New Beer and Whole Foods are about a 3 minute walk from each other.

and here is info on Flair. The beer menu does not reflect the real selection. Also.. Flair will order pretty much whatever you want (they gave me a catalog to take home). Just start looking at the beer and a sales associate will likely come over and ask if you need help

Overall: Jever
Wheat beer: Paulaner
Asian beer: Kingfisher
Also, Newcastle Brown Ale and Leffe are in the mix. Variety is the spice of life.

I'll play. If I was in your shoes, I would grab some of Cigar City out of Florida since I don't find it here in Boston and have heard very good things. I would also grab:

De Dolle - Arabier
St. Bernardus - any of them
Hitachino - Red Rice
Green Flash - West Coast IPA
Ballast Point - Sculpin if they have it
Pretty Things - Jack d'or or the KK beer
Brooklyn - Sorachi Ace

They have some nice beers, but I think the whiskey offering is better, to be honest.

There is a whiskey fest? Do tell.. You didn't miss much. It was WAY too crowded and a bunch of vendors ran out of their product early.

It was in Jupiter, FL. I'm trying to find the best beer online but I can't do it. Some special release from Cigar City in Tampa. Tasted like caramelized espresso beer. SO ******* tasty. Southern Tier makes a decent IPA, Victory had a few decent beers, and Brooklyn 1 and 2 were pretty tasty as well. Didn't really get to try them all since it was so crowded.

God Bless this thread!!!

Who knew Michigan was the center of the brewing universe? Ok, perhaps overstated but with Founder's and Bell's it certainly deserves some love from the beer drinker community. Thanks to this thread I am planning to get my hands on some KBS and some Hopslam both available in Ohio where I reside.-And I thought this state sucked.

Keep the talk going boys, I will be taking copious notes.
