Anyone ever send suede shoes/boots to Alden for restoration? If so, was it worth it? I'm fairly new to suede and just wondering if they do anything to clean up and refinish the suede.

Picked up my DC cap toes this afternoon. Wonderful shade. Not to dark and should age nicely. Here's a quick shot from the unboxing. Had them held at the UPS store.

Yes, I'm talking about the broguing. It's off by a good margin - at least .3" if not more (I just eyeballed it).

Unless you are a master woodworker, there's no way you "eyeballed" 3/10th of an inch. True masters I've seen use 1/4" or 1/2" as their benchmarks.

The shoes are fine, keep them, wear them for 25 years, and report back.

Kathy emailed me on Tuesday to say my 10D Cigar Captoe boots had arrived. I called her and paid for them. She shipped them and I received them today. The color is fantastic and I will be wearing these to work tomorrow. Very pleased to be able to get these boots. I

visiting DC for the first time this week for a conference and luckily, my hotel is 2 blocks away from Alden.
Walked into the store and there it was, Cigar captoe in 9E laying on the floor. I've never tried the Grant last before
and I was surprised by how comfortable it is. So my impromptu visit accomplished 2 things - my proper Grant Last size 9E (my usual is 9D Barrie, TB) and to behold the nice cigar shade. I pleaded with Kathy but she said it was just bought by a customer on the list.

Cheers to the gentleman trodding with those boots.

Anyway, this calfskin Grant Last is not too bad either...
