I think women today see the wingtip as an old man's style. I know my wife isn't thrilled by my LWBs; maybe it's because I have a dozen of them. Each of the models you've mentioned she likes has some sort of visible stitching in the shoe. Maybe that is the key, but yes indeed, happy wife happy life...

My girlfriend loves the wingtip and captoe styles. What she hates are the loafers and moc-toes because she sees those models as being "old man's style". Funny because I thought the same thing when I first got into shoes. Her order of preference is captoe>wingtip>plain toe> moc toe/loafers.

BTW, it's women that notice the shoes first.  The moral of the story: the warden and the guards should have been women.
Or any of us. Could you imagine if those had been Aldens? Andy walks by, we'd be all "Hey! You think I'm not going to recognize a pair of 975s?! Now who's obtuse?!"

In my case, she likes wingtip, cap toe, chukkah and plain toe designs. She's not a fan of my LWB's or any NST's. She's indifferent on the Indy design. She loves my Ravello WT Boots, so I'm going to take advantage of that green light and look for wingtip shoes and boots in suede and other colors!

It's funny how opinions from unbiased third parties who don't know as much about the allure of Alden hunting can put things into perspective.

That's just about my preference; sharp woman!

Switched out the daytripper laces for some vibergs. Think it will work?

Looking good ocho, I prefer the stock laces, but I am more traditional like that... And the multi button is back, that was weird... -Mike

I prefer the stock laces cause of the Grant last I think. I could see the Barrie wingtip reverse chamois boot with a heavier lace. But then again I ise Alden flat wax laces on CXL Indy's and love how that looks, so who knows?

Do you guys think it would insane to have #8 shell Indys as 'beater' boots instead of some CXL Indys? Just wondering...
rolleyes.gif

I have both for beaters, but tend to gravitate towards the #8 more if the weather wont be too bad. leather sole on those, where my cxl indys have been topy'd so I'm less cautious with them

so, not insane. grab them both :enabler:
