My friend, welcome to the thread!!! Those are some mighty fine and formal shoes. That mark is where they started and stopped making the welt. There is usually a noticeable mark where they did it, sometimes it is more exaggerated than others. It should not have an ill effect on the shoes performance. They also always do it in the inside of the shoes, so it is less noticeable to others.

Hey Mike thanks for the info. It's just aesthetically annoying and the other shoe actually have the welt on the outside but the crack is much less pronounced (pic below).

Thinking whether I should return it or not.

Leffot also likely doesn't want to field 200 phone calls about availability...

You're probably right. They seemed a little annoyed when I called them to provide an updated CC number and address for shipping and payment after they sent me an email. I'm sure they're getting a lot of inquiries and calls...

Day Trippers are finally in!!!!  Shipping out on Monday - hope to get them mid-week.  Apparently the color is a mid-brown.  Not too light, but not too dark.  Excited to see them finally (hoping for the DC boot color).

Their Cigar Indys also landed.

Great news indeed. Now, if only their Greenwich preorder would drop..........

I was just about to call for the same reason. I don't like to email CC #'s because I'm just cautious about everything in general.

Exactly. I never send my CC # over email. I always feel better actually talking to someone so I know who is actually making the charge.

Do you guys find black shell hard to wear with everyday business casual-type stuff. And I mean that one the more casual side of casual. I think a makeup in the Indy boot with commando sole and speedhooks would be a pretty boss winter boot. Contemplating either that or the No. 8 chukka for my first shell purchase.

I wear my black cordovan tanker boots casually. With regards to business casual, black boots work best with grey or navy as opposed to tan pants

I would not use that term:
I am with one-eighth. I consider it more of a full toe design, the Plaza lasted versions are much more chiseled. Here is the Tremont.
