Just wanted to say thanks for everyone who shared their Alden collection pictures. There are some outstanding Alden collections both big & small in this thread.

I don't speak often in the Alden thread, for I let my pic's do the talking, but I wanted to say thanks for all the kind words on my Alden collection. It was this thread that inspired my Alden purchases, with special thanks to Mac.

That is all and I won't clog the thread up anymore today for I'm guilty of my own pet peeve today & that is by not using the multi quote button.

Geeze when do you ever get to wear each pair of shoes. Great collection.

You can easily wear two to three pairs each day. Loafers for the airport; quick change to calf/shell balmorals for the meeting on the other end, and then another quick change (shoes and clothes) for dinner and drinks. In a given year, you can readily wear about a 1,000 different pairs shoes at least once without too much fuss.

All: quick fit advice question, and I apologize in advance as I know this has all been done to death.

For starters, I like the way my Barrie lasted chukka and LWB fit me in 10d. I have an unlined Leydon suede chukka in 10.5d which fits but is quite snug in every direction. What are the chances that a 10.5 Aberdeen would fit me? I'm assuming it's a d width also.

It should work well. Best of luck my friend...

Good stuff Don L

All of these photos of excellent cigar LHS made me finally pull the trigger on the 9.5EE from The Shoe Mart. Let's hope they fit.

Impressive collection of footwear over past dozen pages ... the pride of ownership is so clearly demonstrated with the use of shoe trees, edge-dressing and generous application of the mac-method.

Is it fair to conclude that shell has the potential to age much more gracefully than calf ... perhaps I've just become biased to shell?

I think that's more of a fact than a bias. Preference is bias... but longevity, durability, and graceful ageing are the main reasons for why shell is so prized.
