Nice boots Mr. Gaga!

Can you post some more pics of your new Whiskey Indys? Also, can you tell us, what type of sole and "welt" the Whiskey Indy has? It looks like maybe a double leather sole with "360 degree reverse welt"? Or does it have a "close heel" (no welt on heel)?

Here are some pics of shoes resoled at B. Nelson. The first pair aren't Aldens so parden me for posting here. I just wanted to show off the red dainite soles on them.

Before the new soles. (With double leather).

After the new soles (Now red dainite with natural edge trim)

That red Danite would look so badass with suede. :slayer:

If you are talking about Chromexcel boots I think you can forego a lot of the time and expense - a wipe-down after every use, shoe trees and some occasional Saphir Renovateur and you'll be all set. BTW - they charge more for the Alden horsehair brush (versus the Kiwi horsehair brush) because they can.

I have Renovateur..I have never thought about using it on my Indy's. Will it color the white threading on the top?

I wonder why there haven't been many new lists lately. Either Shoemart just hasn't been sending them out, or Alden is sending them defects less often.

With some of the crap we see Alden trying to pass off as first quality it should be no wonder that their second's offerings are thin! :) I guess it's another way to address quality control - redefine what is first quality...

Ahab

No experience with the white threading specifically but it isn't changing the color of the stitching on my NSTs.

Ok, let's try this again. Purchased my 2nd pair of what looks to be defected ravello chukka boots. Last pair I bought about 6 months ago from shoemart had some funky stretch marks near the toe. This new pair (purchased from Alden SF) has a very weird dark diagonal stripe through the right shoe? Maybe I should just give up trying to acquire these? Does this look like another defect to you guy's or what?

As with my last pair, I'm sure somebody on these forums already purchased and returned these, only to be sold back to me.

I think you should give up on getting them because it seems you spend a lot of time close to your feet.

Here is a picture of my Whiskey PTB's. You may be able to see a weird change of color that goes up and down the left to box:

I first noticed it when brushing the shoe. I looked at it an it is really noticable when I shine the shoe. I do not wear these as much as my Cigar shell, but that has nothing to do with that line. Nobody has ever said anything to me about that coloring but several people have mentioned they love the shoe. Over time the whiskey has darkened a little and it is even less noticable now when I brush the shoes and I do not care about it at all.

Also here is a pair of whiskey wingtips I purchased new. There was all kind of shade variation along these shoes:

I must admit I never wore them and traded them in for ravello longwings...but not because of the varied coloration, it was just because I wanted a longwing and much prefer cigar and ravello to whiskey. I have since picked up whiskey longwings and love wearing them. I wear them much more than my whiskey PTB's.

I think you may have better luck with Edward Green or Rider Boot co:

Which are both EXCELLENT shoe companies.

Also, just cause I found it, along with a lot of our pics from this thread, being used on some dudes website while searching for whiskey pics:

Cool! Thanks! I will use it and see...just because I love the smell!

Or maybe Shoemart sells them in store when possible, or there was pushback from some of the boutiques. I highly doubt I would enjoy sending seconds out and dealing with the returns and complaints all day long. :nest:

Hey Ahab, that's my site. I asked and received permission from multiple members, including srivats and mcarthur, to use many of the photos taken from this thread (which I have also been contributing photos to since page 7 of 1097). That post on ravello cordovan, which consolidates a lot of scattered images, seems to be very useful to folks.
