Got my first pair of Aldens today, Snuff Suede Chukka.

Super comfortable, fits pretty true. Tried the half size smaller which also worked, but was a bit snug. Thanks to this thread I am $422 poorer, but my feet are happy.

Quick question for chromexcel owners: I'm using Venetian shoe cream on my 403's but am not sure how often to apply it. Since I got them last December, I've only applied shoe cream to them once. They haven't gotten any summer use due to the heat, but with autumn fast approaching I was wondering if they needed another hit or not. Is it a time thing, or a use only when it looks like they need it, because they still look great.

Completely unrelated, my perforated cap toe shell #8 boots got here today so life is pretty good.

Now I just gotta grab some 975's, though this Epaulet cigar wingtip boot coming out in a couple months has me squirming. Difficult decisions need to be made in the coming days and wives will no doubt need placating. I need to find a way to turn this into this

Like this look...anyone else going sockless or loafer socks with their Aldens over the summer. I have with the few I wear.

BTW...I just put up a pair of Alden for J.Crew PTBs in Dark Brown...size 8 in great condition, very minimal (2 wears worth) sole wear. $250 takes em.

FYI I was actually wearing loafer socks. I've also worn my regular Indy 405s in a similar fashion, with the same pair of shorts and with a white t shirt. My friend thought I wanted to be Indiana Jones. I told him the shoes are named after the man, but my friend didn't believe me, haha.

I have been trying to get traction for a whiskey (or cigar) longwing boot order over on the Alden MTO thread for quite some time on the Plaza/Grant/Leydon last on a commando sole for quite some time, but it seems everyone wants Barrie or thinks the longwing boot is too 'fancy'. A chorus from here might be helpful in getting that done.

I would take a cigar shell boot in this makeup in a heartbeat. My dream boot.

I have a tan and dark brown of the flex suede chukkas and they are the most comfortable shoes I have. They are great for all year around.
