They are casual for me - so I have not worn them out enough to notice the sea air having its usual way with brass. They have become matte / egg shell shiny with several wears and no cleaning. I can say that from the front they are much less noticeable due to pant legs. It does appear to be real brass, so for example a belt buckle, it will age due to finger oils and air. The comfort level is excellent, is it even possible too dress up a casual outfit by wearing boots? - yes - that is the awesome juxtaposition / style elevation

All three colors are nice. I own the 666, as well as a few others in dark brown suede (sometimes referred to as mocha kid suede). I own models in snuff and tan too. Of the three, snuff is my favorite.

For your stated uses, I would lean towards snuff and tan. However, for me, tan is almost strictly a spring/summer shoe whereas snuff and MKS are year-'rounders.

If you have plenty of snuff in your collection, I think the 666 is a viable option.

+1 on all opinions expressed here and well and succinctly stated.

Thanks for the kind words, fine sir.

When Alden DC does a run of Ravello LWB's do they normally go lighter Antique sole or Dark sole? What's the preference around here? I think the Ravello color works well with many options. Torn between Cigar and Ravello LWB. Have had Whiskey LWB but I didn't reach enough for them.

Alden DC does them on Dark Edges. See my next post.

The Snuff Tassels don't interest me. I don't find snuff to be as versatile as others contend that it is.
(Note: These are the BB variant with foxing on the heel)
Bakes, looking awesome!

Poor beautiful Ravello! Looking good Trunks.
Just won this pair of Aldens on an ebay auction. A guy in Australia was selling them, and they happened to be my size. This will be my first pair of Ravello shells.

Have any of you guys had an issue with J Crew saying a pair of Aldens were on the barrie last when you know they aren't? I recently picked up the perforated captoe bluchers and have worn them a few times and suddenly realized the toebox is way too tapered to be barrie. None of my other Aldens on the barrie last fit like this. I know I've already worn them but is there anything I can do at this point other than resell them since they don't fit?

I saw this coming which is why I posted a review on the J Crew website. Call J Crew. They're generally pretty good about offering discounts, etc. if they're in error.

I'm absolutely floored at how everyone grasped onto my rinky dink last chart (especially if Alden uses it too!). Maybe they'll make me honorary Last Master.

My friend, you have my vote! :D

Cigar PTBs for me yesterday as well, although not nearly as fantastic as Uncle's, those are truly amazing...
