I believe Humus Suede is next to Loden Suede in the spectrum with Snuff being on one end and Dark Brown on the other. While Loden is probably one of my favorite colors, I think Gray will be quite a bit different.Need some help.
Gray indy vs. Loden indy.
I have humus indy so leaning more towards gray. For some reason, right shoe of my humus indy is darker and sometimes show greenish hue. So I’m thinking Loden will kind be redundant? Obviously, gray will be a completely different color but they appear to be more blue in some pics.
At the same time, I’m a sucker for green. Always wanted green indy makeups from todd snyder but never got a chance to buy one due to my sizing. So Loden is a good chance to have a green pair of indy?
I wonder why there is such a drastic difference in each picture of what color each panel is on the right boot? In some they all look uniform and in others they alternate in which look lighter and darker. For instance the cap toe looks pretty different in each picture. No trick, but quite a treat to close out a barrage of orders that landed in October. Lucked into a very sweet pair of Whiskey Shell Naval Boots from Leffot thanks to a fellow Alden enthusiast up north!
There has been lots of discussion around Whiskey vs. Bourbon, but Alden's stance is Whiskey is still Whiskey, just like Ravello is still Ravello. Batch to batch may be different, but it's supposed to be the same color.

And here are a couple of pics between Whiskey Shell boots. The other Whiskey is from Brogue's June 2022 boots (on the left) that I picked up a little over a year ago.

They aren't night-and-day different, but they do appear much different than the pictures show. The top photo really demonstrates how much lighter they are than the new batch of Whiskey.
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it's the fibers of the shell kinda like the nap of suede. I've seen this on a lot of my shell cordovan shoes and figured it was just one of the properties of the shell.I wonder why there is such a drastic difference in each picture of what color each panel is on the right boot? The grey from Ealdwine was very pretty in person, got the opportunity to see them firsthand. I think that they have an open pre-order at the moment if your size isn't in stockI believe Humus Suede is next to Loden Suede in the spectrum with Snuff being on one end and Dark Brown on the other. The next consideration would be what you would plan to pair with the Gray Indy boots. Gray isn't quite the same as Brown, so different pants/trousers would pair better than the pants you wear your Humus Suede Indys with. For example, I love wearing grey pants and brown shoes, but grey pants and grey shoes may be too uniform. Dark blues work well with both, but I tried Olive pants with my Gray suede boots and they don't quite seem right. Guess it would depend on the shade of Gray.
Are you considering the Matte Gray from Ealdwine?

Thanks for the advice!Loden is really really close to humus. I would switch it up a bit

Yeah that side angle is solid but the other angles are really pronounced! Toe caps look lighter in one direction and darker in the other direction.Yep, shell is kind of directional this way. It’s usually not that noticeable but sometimes you get a mismatch like this, which I find pretty cool.
