I love the way CxL ages and is not the same from boot to boot. Funny but when shell rolls and gets scuffed, I don't like it, but CXL...bring on that patina......

Trying to decide if I keep a pair of Black Shell LWBs. They were a special order — because of my narrow size — and I waited nearly nine months for them. But they’ve been sitting in my closet for a couple months and I still haven’t worn them…

On one hand, I could sell them (although at a loss) and deposit the $ in the Alden shoe fund. Or wear them. Even if I’d likely reach for one of my other pairs most days.

Thoughts on this model? And should I think differently about black shell?

LaRossa milkshake suede Indys on single waterloc today. It's January but many of my shoe brothers have been wearing their milkshake suede shoes lately, so today I decided I'd wear mine, too. View attachment 1745385

I know so many of you have been wearing Milkshake this month, but boy those look like spring and summer boots. I'd be too worried about getting them dirty in the slush and muck this time of year. Those boots are so vibrant and clean.

Strongly agree with the consensus. I have always thought that black shell is at its absolute best in wingtips. IMO ighter shell -- natural, bourbon, Ravello -- is best with simple designs like plain toe bluchers and boots. Something about black shell makes it REALLY pop when used in a wingtip. I had a pair of black AE MacNeils back in the day and they were probably my favorite shoes of all time, because the brogued black shell just looked so nice -- deep, complex, etc. If you wear this pair, you'll see -- black longwings are about as good as it gets in the world of shell cordovan shoes.
