For your Alden Kudu have you ever treated the leather with a care product ?
I have not. They get worn for chores and in dirtier environs - they've been wiped down a couple of times with water to clean.

How soon is one supposed to put in shoe trees in their boots/shoes they just finished wearing for the day? I was telling my friend that if they're dry, they can be promptly inserted, but if they're wet from rain, maybe wait a half hour or longer. This got me thinking, what do the people on SF do?

The primary function of shoe trees is to soak up moisture out of the leather and into the wood, so whether wetness is there from from perspiration or rain, the sooner the trees are inserted into the footwear the better.

What is the Arch?

I guess you've never visited the Arch?

Thanks for popping in here!

Oh that’s not too bad. I just received the Withernots yesterday, and like them a lot! They are made in China, so I’m not sure ColumbiaKnit makes them or not. They are pretty heavyweight but soft

Great, happy you like them! Definitely not ColumbiaKnit as they are USA.

I will have to check out their stock....

Definitely don't miss ColumbiaKnit offerings too.

I think that's a bit of an urban legend. That wood isn't going to soak up tons...soaked shoes are usually recommended to be filled with newspaper. I thought they were primarily to help maintain shape.

Wear a pair of shoes or boots all day and the interior lining will become damp. After removing the footwear install a pair of shoe trees. An hour later when the shoes trees are removed the wood will be slightly damp.
Regarding a pair of footwear's shape retention, that comes from the quality of materials used to produce the pair, the construction. For example, lower grade leather does not retain its shape as well as higher grade leather. And a significant function of a metal shank is that it helps the pair of footwear retain its shape.

Newspaper or wadded up paper towels for SOAKED shoes, normal perspiration, put the trees in after taking them off, they are to help retain shape.
