Well, the loafers arrived today. The fit is pretty close, but I was able to spot the defect. I have a hard time believing that this won't affect the integrity of the shoe. What do you all think? View attachment 1012727

I would attempt to get a new pair if i were you.

These are TSM seconds; they don't have another pair on hand. Would it be wholly inappropriate to see if they would increase the discount on this pair? That's a big divot; I think I'd rather wait and buy a good pair than save $200 on shoes with a hole in them.

Yeah that will certainly affect the integretity. A scratch is one thing, but a gouge/hole will over time be detrimental.

That being said they are seconds, but that’s much more than most of the superficial damage I’ve seen with seconds.

I’d reach out. Don’t expect the world, but perhaps they will accept the return for store credit. I’m not sure they would do a credit back to your card, but it’s worth a call.

Just my $.02

I would contact TSM and send a photo of the hole in the shoe and stress to them that one of the shoes contain a defect and therefore cannot be properly worn. Because honestly what you showed in that photo is simply not acceptable. Even for a pair of seconds.

I'm no expert here, but the hole well may be supported by the heel cup underneath the shell. Not sure where it ends in that area, but you may be able to feel it and get a better idea.
