A little announcement my friends. A few weeks ago, I began a new chapter in my life and I am excited to share with all of you what I have been working on.

@jmp1 and I are very excited to announce that this fall we plan to open an Alden partner shop in downtown Raleigh, NC. There are still quite a few details to be worked out but I will be sure to keep you all posted as things develop.

The shop will be called Ealdwine. Alden by definition means “old friend”. Ealdwine (pronounced Ald-wine) is old English for “old friend”.

If I may make a suggestion, try an insert? I bought a pair of J.Crew Indy as my first Alden. Through some life changes, the D width became too wide for me. I used an Allen Edmonds insert in them and they now fit great, much like another pair if Indy's I bought in a narrower width since then. The insert eliminated the wooshing sound for me. Just a thought for continued enjoyment of a pair you are fond of.

The thought is much appreciated. I have been discussing options with Moulded shoe about the various Alden inserts. If I don’t see any interest in a week or so after listing I’m going to grab a pair.
