George Boot

i still kick myself for passing up a super deal on that boot

Orvis used to stock Alden and the George Boot was one of their standard pieces. 4 or 5 years ago they decided to stop carrying Alden and everything was marked down substantially and I remember seeing the George Boot on their site in my size in brown calf for something ridiculous like $125 and I kick myself too! I'm just kicking myself without a George Boot on my foot!

IIRC, they also had a few select sizes in #8 shell for something like $250.

When they call them "dovers" they are unlined, right? Nothing in the description.

Dover refers to the cut of the quarters/eyestays. It differentiates this model from the plain toe blucher, where the quarters are the same piece of shell as the vamp/toe. I don't think it necessarily means it is unlined (in the front half of the shoe) like most Dovers are.
