UGH, I miss these shoes. I wish they were my size.
Atleast I know they have a good home in sunny San Diego with @mdubs

Here are the shoes I was asking about a few days ago, purchases on eBay for what they would have cost in 1955, sadly 1 size too small

TOP - Lots of bloom on these black shell boots after a few months of winter hibernation. Bottom - A little bit of water and a lot brushing, then no more white residue/bloom!
Looking good. Yeah, bloom comes off pretty easy. Just takes a minute to get it off.
Don, looking great in your Snuff Suede LHSes. I really love my pair. Enjoy yours!

Chippy, I am very sorry to hear about your wife. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hope that you are doing okay, she will need your love and support. Let us know if you need anything. Nice LHSes bud.
Antique edging my 975s Thought you guys would enjoy my tutorial on how to give my 975s an antique-looking edge.
This old pix shows how the original stock edging was black: Materials: -100 Grit sandpaper -220 Grit sandpaper -1000 Grit sandpaper -Allen Edmonds Chili edge dressing Start by sanding the edges with the roughest edge sandpaper,100, with your thumb and fore fingers. The 100 grit should take off most of the old black edge dressing. The 220 and 1000 grits are basically just to smooth things out and allow the edge dressing to stick. The 100 grit leaves the edges kinda rough. Goes without saying, but be careful not to scratch the uppers. Also, don’t be afraid to use your fingernails to press on areas of the edging where the black color remains (like mini crevasses) with the sandpaper. There will be find black dust coming off so lay down some newspaper, if you wish. Last step: apply 2 coats of AE chili edge dressing. Allow 20 minutes or so between coats to allow the edge dressing to dry before applying a 2nd coat. After 3 sessions of different texture sandpapering (edging will have a “bone” like color): Final result (bathroom shot): Final result (outdoor sun shot):
Fun project and they came out nicely!
First time trying Alden boot cream on these 403's. I've tried VSC, as well as Saphirs cxl cream, but I think this actually looks the best of the 3. They shined up nicely.

Your boots are looking good. Yeah, VSC is good and Alden Boot Cream (ABC) is typically highly recommended.

Which vendor offers these?
First wanted to correct the brand name cuz I got it slightly wrong, ITS rubber company makes the ITShide commando soles. There was a 2009 SF thread that talked about this and some knowledgeable guys said that these were harder than the dainite version (despite my experience that it seemed softer and wore more quickly - maybe the Tricker's blue is some fashionable version?). BNelson was on that thread so maybe they can get ITShide? Not sure.

PSA, I have a pair of Epaulet "To Tie Guy" snuff suede wingtip boots (size 8.5D, Plaza last) that I am looking to pass on. Will split my deposit if someone wants to take them at a discount (see signature), if no takers by this week then i'll forfeit my deposit
