In this manner: my FIL used to sweep his own chimney. Until the insurance comp said that without the annual bill from a sweeping company, he would not be covered in case of a fire. No matter how much better he could do it than the pros.

you’d think it’s the same with gas and US insurers and their propensity to deny claims.

All the chimneys in Santa Cruz got condemned after the ‘89 earthquake. You could put an insert and flue in them, but I just took mine out for the floor space

IMHO dual fuel is totally worth it which may be why that outlet is in place.

Electric ovens are great for baking.

Range ovens are for plebes.

I'm also of the opinon that in most cases it's functionally and stylistically superior to have a separate oven + cooktop instead of a range.

Personally, I don't care what type of appliances my cooking staff chooses to use in their workspace. Nor do I care about its aesthetics, as I have no intention of ever going there. It's rude to disturb the help in their habitat, and I was raised better.

does anybody have a music studio or gear room ( or maybe a hi fi room ) ? i've been playing a lot lately and my kiddo has been too ... we've accumulated sort of a lot of stuff over the past 5 years and I need to reorganize it so that it's all accessible and usable , would be neat to see some organizational ideas .

I raised 3 kids and never owned a microwave. They're grown now but none of them own one either.

Starting to plan out my entryway closet remodel. Want to take out some old builder grade sliding mirror doors and open it up adding a floating bench and tile floor. Unsure what to do with interior closet walls whether to keep same color as outside or accent wall/material so opinions welcome. I plan on redoing the baseboards/trim/door plus that hvac cabinet as well.

Save the closest and just buy a bench for the entry way?
