I wandered a bit too far for lunch today and stopped at the local building supply discounter. They have polished and lipped 8'x26" 3cm granite slabs for $199 each. I'm fighting the urge to buy a bunch of them and DIY the upstairs countertops in my current house before selling it. How hard could it be?

I'm not saying it's the best rate anyone could have gotten, but after the last couple weeks I was worried it'd be a lot worse.

Oh, and, also, it's 2.75% for a 30-year mortgage. It's a sign of the times that we're just like, oh, well, that's okay I guess.

If you have some extra cash lying around, most of the big banks are offering relationship mortgages with 50 basis point discounts for transferring 500k-1 million in assets. For jumbo mortgages, it obviously makes a significant difference in the amount of interest amortized over the life of the loan.
