Bespoke process means after measurements are taken…a wooden model of the clients feet need to be carved from wood and then worked by hand / file / rasp…

Then leather is hand stretched over that wooden last and nailed on…layer by layer. Everything is hand stitched…And the soles and heels are carved by hand as well.

Look at this video as an example of the process…and this does not include the measuring / last making process.

Makers will also have a long backlog of clients waiting for shoes to be made…

Ok, now I get the full Idea of what 'Bespoke' means. Well, I've been thinking for the past 2 hrs that how about I give my father a full bespoke experience as a surprise! Cause otherwise it's just too tedious to arrange a full bespoke article without letting him get a whiff of what's going on.

You will not be able to take the needed measurements. Maybe you could find someone who will do the same look made to measure on an off the shelf last.
Yh, I was just starting to realize it after I saw the video that Mr. "masugu" sent me. Its quite a skilled person job and well I have zero essence of Newton's Soul in me to get those measurements!

This…

Bespoke isn’t the solution here. Unless your Dad would like a gift of the entire bespoke experience…A “surprise” will require other means.
That is what I'm considering now. You my guy have helped me a lot understanding a 'Bespoke Experience' and for that I'm grateful to you.

Just so you don’t faint dead away when you find out the cost…Are you aware that a pair if bespoke shoes created in the manner above will set you back anywhere from $4,000 - $10,000 USD depending on materials? Ie skins such as Alligator / Crocodile get pretty expensive with calf leather on the lower end of the scale.

Maftei, Materna, Jan Kielman, they aren't all $4k per pair.

Replying to myself here now that I see the OP said it was lama, Carmina says lama is just a type of tumbled calf. Anybody know specifically what leather this is?
This has been discussed before, actual llama leather is a thing, but some makers may refer to textured calf as llama grain too.

Llama (actual llama) do in terms of holding its shape and longevity? I assume the grain is naturally so it remains equally pronounced even at the heel and toe? Does it take a good shine?

Can't comment on these questions as I don't have any experience with llama leather yet. Maybe try tagging the people who wrote those replies I quoted instead?

OH don't worry about that, I had a range far beyond this point in mind! Like I said, I saved up quite a lot and really money isn't an issue for me when it comes to concerning my parents. I had thought that If i fall short, I'll borrow some cause nothing matters to me more than my parents happiness!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
