My Canons burgundy monk strap shoes with belt has arrived from DHL. No incoming duty. :). Looking forward to breaking them in.

Everything was well packaged to top off what has been an excellent experience with the Canons team.

I met Simon Bolzoni in Los Angeles in early spring. After trials with 2 pair of fitting shoes, the 3rd pair was made in welt. About a month ago I tried on the completed shoes and measurements were taken again on the belt. Almost 8 months start to finish with meetings in LA and London. Simon’s frequent visits to the US really helps move the process along.

Absolutely stunning, great style and colour.

I would love to have them for myself.

Those are beautiful shoes, one of my favourite designs (brogued monks). The work they display online is so finely made, some of the best.

How is the fit compared to other makers you may have tried? ? Do they do all the work inhouse or do they use the really top outworkers? Can you share a few more photos of these for us please?

Thank you and I think the positive vibe around Canons is well deserved. Their enthusiasm for the craft is readily apparent. This was my first bespoke experience. I will be wearing the shoes this week around the house. When I tried them on about a month ago at the Canons London workshop they did feel like they were made for my feet. No immediate discomfort anywhere--but I will need about 2 months before I can accurately assess the fit for any possible improvements.

I like to ask questions to learn more about the process and history. The Canons guys provide straightforward answers. They rely on a network of trusted outworkers. Canons specifically assigns the various builds to the workers they feel have the skills to complete the work to their standards. Reece is the in house pattern maker and clicker. Reece and Conor also do the coloring and finishing. Simon is the lastmaker and overall manager/ coordinator.

I have brown Chelsea boots in the works with Daniel Wegan (just had second fitting) and a pair of brown semi-brogues going with Gaziano and Girling (second fitting earlier last month with Tony--next fitting in welt). Both expected sometime in later 2025 I would guess. I have the feeling that I am in good hands with these guys. I greatly appreciate their close involvement and effort in striving for excellence.

I will be happy to post more photos this week.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
