Somewhat of a fail because I didn’t get a photo of what I wore today, but rocked the Massdrop (now Drop) + AE collab of the Dundee unlined chukka - I got a pair in snuff a few years back. It is the easily the most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn.

A few notes:
-Extremely comfortable and required essentially no break-in
-I’ve had shoe trees in them a while (haven’t worn them in probably a year) and I noticed the heel seems to be a bit stretched out? Wonder if I should size down in shoe trees for them since they are not lined and a little more flippity floppity?
-The heel seemed to flex more than I’d like? Might have been heel slip but was hard to tell. By the end of the day not sure if I was used to the feeling of walking in them or if it went away
-They’re a little squeaky
-I’d consider them seconds quality - I am not that picky but there are definitely a handful of noticeable flaws on each boot

I do not put shoe trees in mine solely out of fear of what has happened to your pair. It is unlined/unstructured suede, and I figured that it could disfigure the shape of the shoe.

It was in the teens here yesterday, but we're supposed to hit 50 today. Figured that was as good a reason as any to break out the OG, unlined Normandy boot in dark brown. Seeing @ProfilaBinding rocking the Overlord yesterday reminded me that at some point I should pick up a pair of those as a companion pair to the Normandy. Just a great, casual vibe on those.

I did a lot of shoe switching yesterday. Leeds and Tupelo got to see the light of day.

This pair has the thickest double sole of any of my pairs.

I believe the Tupelo was the beginning of the XL sole. This upper holds the best shine and least maintenance of all my shoes.

I've posted about these before, but Ashland Leather is offering their $2 leather coaster grab bag again. They're pretty cool and a great way to get a sense of how different leathers feel. I've got at least a dozen of these kicking around in my house. My favorites? Easily the Dublin ones.

Speaking of Dublin, when is AE going to have a Dublin Trunk Show? Screw the suede Trunk Show. We've done that already. Bring on the Dublin!

Thanks for posting this! Unfortunately it seems there is only 1 left. I can't justify paying 3.25x to ship a $2 item.

I was just able to add a bunch to my shopping cart. (And, then I emptied it.)

Edit: weird, after saying there was only 1 remaining, I can now add up to 9 total.

Also, what the F just happened to this site? I quoted/replied to donkey just a second ago and now am having trouble. Wonder if this is the same issue others were having. Am getting a blank reply page, even when selecting Quote.

I've decided it is me. As soon as the above was posted, I can now use the quote buttons again. Definitely a sign I should get off SF, save the $20 I was going to spend on coasters, and call up the shoe bank for some snuff Freeports.

Nope, third time was not the charm. Back to the reply page, after selecting Quote button.

Suede Freeports. Haven’t been this happy with a shoe buy in a long time. Really liking these (though the laces are too short) View attachment 1918985
How do you like the soles for all day wear? I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t wear dainite, Alden commando, or Itshide soles all day without my feet bothering me. Until someone shows me a sole that’s better, I guess I’m going to have to go full leather full time.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
