That's an interesting transaction. So they sell you shares but report it as income on your W2? And it increases your gross? But it's on a discount? Too many moving parts. ?No, it is considered income. If I sell the stock a year later at a higher basis then I will be taxed on the gain at a different rate.

Sounds to me like something akin to bonus shares. You buy 100 and they hand you an extra 15... But you have to pay taxes on those.
