The board rejected/ will continue to even if it "passes". They are looking at anything else than 122, and I bet they will do some "restructuring"/parachute Magic before .

Novel post, apple being a fruit. A long way to go from several perspectives.

Do you guys have any leads in what a beginner should do when investing in stocks right now? My knowledge on stuff like this is very limited but I wanna get into investing so is there anything important I should know right now? I have $2000 to play with is that enough?

And apparently a friend said you need a net worth of a million dollars to buy stocks, is that true?

Is it your intention to invest, to entertain yourself, or pay $2,000 for an education? Be sure of that before you make any further plans.

Well with this $2000 I was planning on testing the waters and learn so when I get older I'll know what to do when I really get into buying and selling stocks. However it wouldn't be a bad idea for me to get into buying and selling stocks now after thinking about it.

You can always setup a hypothetical portfolio on WSJ.com for example and test it out first to see how you fair.

Alternatively, setup a mutual fund account. Someone else can do the managing of your portfolio.

A mock portfolio isn't a bad idea. Good habit to get into, though, which seems to be omitted by a lot of chatterers; track your performance. If you start with a hypothetical $100K and it goes to $105K, you're up 5%. You might learn more by figuring out your individual positions, and where /how you did well-- or not. But don't get so hung up on those you forget to measure your skill. People tend to look at the crumbs and assume the whole loaf is doing great.

$2,000 won't get you into a mutual fund as those are usually $3,000 minimum. If you want to park your money so you are in the stock market, consider the ticker SPY as it is an ETF that tracks with the S&P 500. You basically own fractional shares of every company in the S&P 500. The S&P is also used as a benchmark against returns for pretty much any portfolio as you could have just bought the SPY and earned that percentage over a measurable period.

You can then research individual stocks but you can always continue to put money into you SPY holding as you continue to learn about investing.

You can build a portfolio from some of the Goldman funds too:

Super low expense ratios.

I bought an iPhone this weekend so that should help you GF. Surprisingly, they said the iPhone SE is a huge seller and there is still a wait time for the 16GB models. I went with the 64GB model as I do not like the larger phones and my wife is sending a lot of baby pictures.

Depends where you buy it I think.

The verizon store tried to convince my GF she'd have to wait to get any SEs, but that she could get a rose gold (eww) 16gb if she came back the next day since someone had ordered one and changed their mind. Also tried to convince her that 16gb was plenty because you can just increase your cloud storage for less money than the upgrade

She walked over to Target, and they had plenty in stock in whatever configuration you wanted.

Have not been following stuff much but tallied my portfolio last night and was happy to see the number was bigger than it's been all year.

Be careful of investment articles and experts. Stay away from FT , WSJ unless for entertainment.
