I'm not expecting miracles, but am expecting to feel some difference, which is why I take what I take, and have believe it or not whittled down the list of supplements I'm taking greatly over the last year or so.

It depends. For example, birth control pills use sugar of some sort.

In double blind drug studies, they may use the exact pill formulation minus the API.

One of the studies I worked on used a cream. I think it was some kind of basic hand lotion or something.

200-500 mg DMAE
1000 mg Ginseng
12.5-25 mg Ephedrine
1000-2000 mg Guarana (caffeine)
500-1000 mg L-Tyrosine
2000 mg L-Carnitine
*Edit: B complex on occasion
30-120 mg dexamphetamine on occasion
Iron supplement (can't really get red meat or spinach on campus)
Fish and Flax seed oils

Actually, 5-HTP, DXM, diphenhydramine, etc are pretty high up there... Sleep is important.

Edit: the reason they aren't mentioned is that I don't use them consistently enough
