I like the Barrett's posted upthread, but in general I think that split toe monks are too busy.

I really like Monk and have (4) pair, I really like split toes too......I have (2) pair of split/Monks and wear them both regularly...

While I agree there is conflict of style between the two, I don't find them to be offensive in the least bit.

I'm in the indifferent camp. I feel like they should be more fun than they actually are, but there are some good examples out there. The EG Ashby comes to mind first although I did sell my pair, but more for minor fit issues.

Never liked monks.

On a good day they make me think of velcro sneakers.

On a bad day they remind me of something my mother would have worn 30 years ago.

I'm on the hate wagon here as well - why take the most beautiful part of a shoe and put a seam down the middle of it. It's always stuck me as resembling a mistake or a scar.
