I am about to order a custom navy suit in high twist wool and am trying to decide between the Clissold Navy (released a year ago I think) and the Marling & Evans high twist (was released RTW this FW). I've found several real life photos of the Clissold fabric in this thread but am wondering if anyone may have photos of the Marling & Evans in natural lighting? Even better if you might have both and could share photos of them together. Of course, I'm open to input from anyone who's familiar with these fabrics.

anyone have bought S&M's shorts, I just don't want some overly slim ones, trust me my leg and thigh aren't that toned...

p.s. and time to get in before tariff switch flip again who knows...
I would say they are on the slim size, but that may be due to time wearing a size 30. I would say go Contemp at a minimum

Guys cmon stop talking about the politics. None of you can do anything about it that has not already been done November 5th. Find some other political outlet.

Hey friends can I get some quick advice on choosing from the various military inspired items for sale? Trying to figure out which one looks best with my wardrobe which is mostly mid century stuff once worn by oppressed minorities with the occasional piece made famous by a US president. It's really important to me that I dress like style icon Donald Rumsfeld after 8:15pm each week day. Nothing means anything to me. Thanks!

you kind have to ask Trump, assuming one month delay stay I guess anything in stock if you order now should be fine, but if you MTO who knows what happens after

Everyone knows there is precisely one mid-century style icon who also happened to be a POTUS, and that man is Lyndon Johnson. Good to know he micromanages his tailor just as much as the average neurotic SF-er does his.

can someone please comment on their experience with the merino knitwear. how do they fit? do the pill over time? are they scratchy?
Regular merino layering sweaters?? They fit slim, so I recommend sizing up. I haven't really experienced any pilling and far from scratchy

Since Spier has, to their immense credit, taken customer input in the past, I'd love for them to consider slightly tweaking their high rise cut. The changes they did make (maybe S/S '22?) are great, but would love to see a slightly higher back rise and a more scooped (@DonRaphael knows the term I mean lol) crotch. The back rise as is still tugs a bit/sits ever so slightly awkwardly when worn at the natural waist, and the scoop doesn't leave all that much space for the giblets (again when worn at the natural waist).

The newest iteration, which I'm wearing today, is lightyears better than the previous way too slim/way too small rise, but a teensy bit of tweaking could make them truly exceptional.

Maybe a 1/2 - 1" larger at various points from thigh to hem, but that would be really picking nits.

If I'm not mistaken, the measurement you are talking about is called "stride". I increase it for my mtm pants and is really making a difference.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
