I must credit @SpierTeam for offering me a one-off refund for store credit to me here. I suppose the lesson is to go by the tagged size instead of the measurements table. Another reason they are my go-to when I'm looking for something.Bought two pairs of 34" waist high-rise trousers, navy flannel from Marling & Evans and brown covert from VBC, size guide listed 35.5" for the waist and I made the mistake of having Spier & Mackay hem them. However, having received them, they are not in fact 35.5" waist and are instead a true 34, an inch too tight (especially the covert which has little spring to it). I am on the wrong end of the return policy given the alterations. Has anyone had any success trying garments that have been hemmed when situations like these happen?
Otherwise, extremely nice trousers BNWT coming to the forum pronto.
All the fits get that much slimmerSo what if anything is going to happen once Feb 1 rolls around and the 25% tariffs come into play for US folk?
If you want to keep them, I would think your local alterations tailor should be able to let the waist out.Bought two pairs of 34" waist high-rise trousers, navy flannel from Marling & Evans and brown covert from VBC, size guide listed 35.5" for the waist and I made the mistake of having Spier & Mackay hem them. Anyone with a lot of experience with spier shirting, what's the lightest weight, most breathable fabric they have a decent amount of options in? I layer my dress shirts under sweaters frequently and it can also get super hot here so I can't really wear your typical oxford without feeling like I'm in a furnace. I may have to just take a gamble on a few different fabrics on super sale and test them out.
Side note but that's actually one thing that kind of annoys me about spier. They don't seem to have a standard type of chino, dress shirt, etc that is just the same staple you can go back to and count on. Like you find something then poof that one is gone never to be seen again or it's only available it one or two colors or patterns. I get wanting to have variety but I wish they had go to staples then some variables outside of those.
True on linen but there's the wrinkling issue. Thanks for the jnfo! They sometimes carry giro inglese, which is the bomb. Linen is of course also extremely breathable.
Certainly, but then I've spent another $50 to alter the waist on the pants. Better to get an exchange. If you want to keep them, I would think your local alterations tailor should be able to let the waist out.
Maybe we split it 50-50 with SM? Of course if we didn't have idiotic, inflationary policies... that's a different thread.well, I dodge that tariff bullet...
