I have the XBR8 55 inch, got it a few weeks back (wanted the 70 inch but 20K is a bit out of my range). My wife works for Sony so we got a better price than you small timers would. On the one hand you have the economy squeezing electronic retailers. On the other you have big screen TV's being the only thing really selling and Circuit City going bankrupt, meaning less price competition. This is a pretty new model so don't expect Sony to have a newer 55 inch model coming out anytime soon. It's allegedly the best (and costliest) TV in it's size, followed very closely by a Pioneer Elite model, not sure which, but the Pioneer is a thousand or so cheaper.

Nice, I'm a big fan of the new backlit tech. Wish they'd make them in smaller sizes so I could fit it on my desktop.
