I don't understand how arsenal fans put up with wengers **** for so long. Sure he produces good players, but then he sells them at their peak. For how long has he insisted to walk talent on? Dude would have been fired after half a season at real.

Well that didn't quite go according to plan. Galaxy were by and far the better team (I think Beckham's salary alone is equal our entire payroll).
Shocked everyone by taking an early lead in the 4th minute, it was shut it down for 65 minutes after that. I knew we were sunk when Kenny Miller botched a sitter to make it 2-0 in the 68th, sure enough LA draws level 30 seconds later.
Donavan then takes a swan dive and he converts the PK. To be fair, they had a legit PK not called in the first half.
Better team wins I have no problem admitting that.
Lasbar- you may know Barry Robson and Kenny Miller. MIiller played at both Rangers and Celtic, Robson at Celtic and in the EPL. Not huge stars but Miller is still one of Scotland's go to strikers though he is under a lot of criticism for not producing.
I doubt either will be back with Vancouver as that experiment did not produce the results their salaries should be giving us. Most supporters want them gone.
You may also know Y.P. Lee (S. Korean int'l) who played a bit for Spurs and Jay DeMerit who was Watford's captain for a while.

Agree entirely with your synopsis. O'Brian, Lee, and DeMerit were great. I also though Watson played quite well. Have been waiting for Miller to do anything but nothing seems to come up. His choke and Robson stutter on the same play were unbelievable. Mattocks was looking pretty tired but with zero support what do you expect. Hasli would've put that one in...

At this point, I can't believe it either. Needs to go. Sure he's been an institution, but everything has an expiration date.

what you don't seem to take into account is that there is not incentive at this point from a business ops point of view. first, credit where due, he built what is the arsenal in his first seven years from a team of fat humps that achieved nothing through many seasons prior to his arrival. he scouted obscure talent and managed to produce some of the best players. and even in this time of stagnation, he's managed to consistently qualify for the CL year after year. that's where the problem is, though. the CL spot and the associated money coming in means there is still some attraction for players from other leagues wanting to get on the big stage as well as nice lining for the suit pocket$ on the board. so the cycle goes, qualify, get players and help launch their careers with a fireworks of sales and income at the end of the season (Arsenal have broken even in transfer market per my calculations since 2006, and in the past 5 years have made a profit of 50 million pounds per commentator's remarks last friday).

couple that with a horrible wage structure that inhibits top players (prior to transfer RVP making pennies on the dollar compared to, say, rooney) while the worthless muppets like jenkinson and bender were raking in a considerable % of the top player. that is, the wage gap at arsenal is tiny and prohibitive, while it's massive (capitalistic system) in majority of other clubs. sure you can say this is the better way, but only if it's adopted league-wide like in germany -- but if only the germans adopted it, that would weaken them on the international stage, which it somewhat has over past 2-3 seasons.

so now you have a low-paying system generating an almost-guaranteed CL spot revenue, with ever-increasing ticket prices (highest season tix in league) justified by stadium loans which were in fact already taken care of and i guess apathy of behalf of the fans who willingly shell out more each season only to see the likes of walcott demand 100k and a starting role as center forward as the board plans its next sale -- cazorla to barca perhaps ?

so i agree wenger should be tossed, but the board won't and they are the root of the problem--wenger only the face of it, and complicit since he covers for them with marsupialed excuses and sickening promises of potential and next season's chances etc.

sorry i just am a bit frustrated at the current state of affairs, and yeah complaining makes me seem like a dunce when you consider the prospects of leeds but hey i have high expectations (thanks to wenger, ironically)

He sold Vieira,Henry and many others when they were actually on their way down...

He used to recruit great talents and he did get it wrong in his transferts for a few years now..

As for Arsenal and Wenger, it could have been a lot worse. Ask any Liverpool or Spurs fan of the past few decades..... no need to even bring up Leeds as a warning example. Firing Wenger could actually be the commencement of a prolonged period of midtable struggle and a series of management changes. The problem is elsewhere and maybe in many different areas, not just with one stubborn (brilliant) manager.

...while the worthless muppets like jenkinson...
Jenkinson is an excellent player.

yes this is excellent show of skill and on his debut no less. h
opefully he does it at the other end from now on :teach:

point is, he's a nobody still (for now, if you want?) and yet pulls in a sizable percentage of our top players' wages. we have a damn socialist system in place

nothing wrong with selling players who have peaked especially for good money, but if you use that money to replace them afterward. this has not been the case for a long while now. theo to replace theirry ? please ... hence our massive profitting in the transfers market for half a decade or more.

Arsenal used to attract the best youngsters in Europe and especially in France...

It is not true anymore...

Benzema is gone to Real, Pogba is in Juventus, Niang at AC Milan for example and Varane went to Madrid..

His last buys have not been great ...

Chamak,Giroud and so on..

Selling world club players to replace by good players is the problem..

You're being too hard on Jenkinson. He's done very well this season. There's a reason he's keeping Sagna out of the team now that he's back from injury.

Don't know how Arsenal will fare against Schalke tomorrow (I am forever the optimist, coyg, etc) but German football fans are on another level (quite envious of that aspect of German football to be honest). Their traveling contingent of fans are even louder than their opponents' fans most of the time.

good domestically maybe and that's only with the 'help' :D
but not good in general, i mean they're record in CL has been pretty useless, draw chelsea draw shaktar draw nordswhatever ...

You must have missed my posts when I was very critical of their crap play in CL. I will never defend the indefensible like some supporters.

I know your having fun with the "help" shot, so these comments are more general in nature on that topic. We all know the better teams get benefit of calls, rightly or wrong. That said I would never suggest teams I dislike such as Man U, Real or Inter got the bulk of their success due to officiating like some would.

With those teams it is clearly a case of EPO usage and spiking the other team's water cooler. :stirpot:

And Schalke is one of the best supported German teams.
