Ok it's less burgundy looking in person, beautiful boot but damn I think I need a half size smaller. Pics incoming.

What is the verdict on the CS 316 last? How does it fit in comparison to Carmina, EG, Bonafe? etc

316 fits much larger than EG in the same UK7.5. The suggestion of going a half size down from EG seems like solid advice.

I have the 234 last monks in UK7 but they are snug. Being that the 234 is said to be the most volume I opted to size up since I'd want more room for thicker socks. That doesn't seem to have worked out.

Interesting, I find my EG galway size 9.5UK to fit quite long. I can't imagine that CS in the same sizing is much longer.

I have a lot of extra volume in the heel and overall in 316 in UK7.5 compared to the EG 72 last and 606 last in UK7.5. I don't really think the length is an issue for me, just some extra space in a lot of areas. I even have Chup socks on today and feel that way so I know it will be an issue.

That said, If anyone needs to swap a UK7 for a bigger size or just wants to buy a UK7.5 please let me know. I think I need to put these on the marketplace.

Giving these some love after having worn them in the last couple of snowstorms in Boston. One of my favorite buys from you all.

What are these? I've been looking for a dark brown chukka and these seem to hit the right balance - from that angle at least. @wigglr

Glad you got to see them in person. Just wanted to share a pic to demonstrate the two brown grain leathers being equals

Size being constant:
Carlos Santos' 316 last felt a tiny bit wider than the EG 202 (but really not that much).
The CS 316 worked immediately better than the Enzo Bonafé's 363 MOD last for me (the 360 MOD felt a bit tight the first few wears and then very comfortable after the leather had given a little).
To me, the CS 316 feels very much like Carmina's Detroit last (although the Detroit last is bit more square at the toe). The 316 might be a tiny bit narrower than the Detroit.
All in all, the 316 works really well in the same UK size as EG, Bonafé or Carmina for me. I do not think that going half a UK size down would have been a good idea.

Like other posters, I have been quite pleased by the quality of these leather/suede field boots given their price point.
This is my very first pair of Carlos Santos shoes/boots, and, so far, this is very positive experience.

Thanks for sharing and clearing it up! I love the color of the grain in person so I'm bummed I chose to size up and it didn't work.

If it's only a half size too large could you not use a sole insert to help take up some of the excess volume?

I know for me, that without an ideal fit I will end up reaching for them less and less. I'd rather part with them now than put miles on them and have to just part with them down the road.

The listing is up now if anyone is interested.

Totally agree with KPDarb here. Mine came in yesterday, and the finishing is just as good as the photos, and right up close. It's quite astonishing at the price point, and *perfect* burnishing. The suede is not soft and buttery out of the box like Carmina, but I'm sure it'll get the job done. I'll get around to pics once there's a sun to take them with, but boy do these channel all of the elegance of the Galway pattern at 20% of the price.
The "calways" are finally here! Thanks @Leaves @Skoaktiebolaget

My field boots just arrived, first impressions are pretty good so far.
What shoe trees are you people using for the Carlos Santos field boots? And how are you sizing those trees?

I am not very anal about my shoe trees. I use either jcrew , nordstrom, or Brooks brother shoe trees on all my shoes(right now I think my cs field boots have jcrew ones). They are probably all made by rochester shoe company. I buy size large for my 9.5UK.

deez shoes, what do you mean with not being very anal about your shoe trees?
