second one. the first is too busy imo

Thanks for the opinion. Now for the dirty secret: the first one is Express (http://www.express.com/wool-blend-military-jacket-38651-831/control/show/3/index.pro) and the second is Banana Republic (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=61447&vid=1&pid=875018&scid=875018012).

I've been perusing the forums trying to check out the brands I see mentioned in different threads to see if I can't find something similar with a bit more quality (I assume these two items are low end?). Unfortunately, I have yet to find anything that's similar and still not astronomically expensive.

If I can grab one of these around $150 on sale is that a good call or should I continue looking for something a bit higher in quality (I assume these are low end?)

FYI, I'm looking for something that is well fitted b/c I'm in the ballpark of a 16.5" neck, 36" sleeve, 41" chest and 35" waist.

Both look pretty boring. Sorry. Also, if you want warmth you definitely want to get something longer, hitting at least at mid-thigh.

TBH you should always try on APC outerwear in person, they always fit so strange.

Pretty sure I tried that one on in person, TTS (and a little roomy at that). Quality felt really good in person, pretty sure it's harris tweed (but I tried the brown one, so IDK for sure)

What's the catch with those Grensons? They are too cheap. Am suspicious.

There's no catch, really. Some of them have been on Rider's site for months. Every few years P+++ S+++++ needs to clear out their old models and models with only a couple of pairs left. My first big Styleforum windfall was clearance Grenson's from Bennie's in Atlanta, who sold them for something like $150/pop (If I remember right they upped their prices later and no one bit). I guess if there's a catch it's that they're not all made to the highest Grenson standard, so some are mid quality instead of high, some are really ugly, and some are floor or window models and are discolored or heavily tried on. I think Rider is pretty honest about that in his descriptions tho.

I do feel bad for gettoasty :( sorry bro

thinking bout one of these two (to replace my daily wear white leather high cons i've had for 2 years)
Both $80.

Save up and get Schott x Converse.

Fair enough.  I'm here to learn, so can you point me in a better direction?

If you want something similar to that M65 style that's going to look a whole lot cooler, you could check out this one from Nanamica (it would probably be much warmer too):

But I'm guessing if you're looking at Express and Banana Republic to begin with, you don't really have the budget for a coat like that. If that's the case, you're pretty limited, unless you want to buy off the buy&sell forum here or on eBay. So your other option is to check out stores like Club Monaco or AllSaints. The quality might only be marginally better, but the coat will likely look better. I actually think AllSaints has some decent-looking outerwear right now (http://www.us.allsaints.com/men/outerwear/all/). I have no idea what Club Monaco has.

Correct you are! That is a badass coat jacket and is also way out of my price range unfortunately. I'll poke around in the buy/sell area and at Club Monaco and All Saints to see what I can come up with. Thanks!
