I was in Self Edge last week looking for jeans, and I tried on the Boncoura XX. They were almost a perfect fit, and I would have walked out of there with them if the inseam were just a bit longer. The rinsed Sugarcane 1947s that I bought from Self Edge last year shrunk more than I expected, which made me a little gun shy. The Boncoura site gives an inseam measurement of 77cm "based on the shrunk condition after washing and drying." This would be fine, but I don't want it much shorter. What do you think?

^ I think it looks fine unless you're aiming for a cuff. I like that length personally but maybe too tapered to my current likings.

Low top, mid, or neither?

Rolling Dub Trio Casper or Guidi 796v_n?

I always wanted a pair of Guidi back/sidezips because of the “rolls” (and the leather…) and I dig the norvegese welt and chunky sole in the 796v_n.

On the other hand the RDT might just look better with my wardrobe (FWIW I wouldn’t go full avantgarde with the Guidis), and I’ve seen some pairs looking great after a while, e.g.

I wasn't really convinced by the product pic of the first boots but they look really good in that instagram post. If you decide to go for Guidis why not the 788v model? The shaft is a little longer which to me not only looks better but would help with the stacks that you're going for. Also, be sure to go for a horse leather on them (not even sure if those models are being sold in other leathers right now) because you get those chunky rolls. I have multiple pairs of backzips and the ones in goat leather do not be rolling.

And fwiw I don't think the rest of the wardrobe should be too big of a worry for black Guidis. Guidi is perhaps the one "artisanal" brand that I see being worn with all types of styles.

Thanks, re. the 796v_n vs 788v, it’s basically because I dig the norvegese welt in the “n” models, and I think there’s no 788v_n.

And I might be wrong but I’m not convinced that the longer shaft helps promote rolls, as I’d expect those to be mostly in the flex point, I’ve seen pics of the shorter models with plenty of rolls.

Oops I did not see that detail on the N. If those don't exist nevermind the comment then haha.

I know I am probably too particular when it comes to shaft height, but look at the following video. Different model but height is the same. I think this is perfect Guidi shaft length.

Yep I’d prefer the longer shaft too but given I have to choose between longer shaft or norvegese I’d pick the latter (for purely aesthetic reasons). No one will see the longer shaft tbh (perhaps while I’m seated if anything).

One other advantage of a longer shaft is that pants don't get caught on the top. Though it might not be as important for you.

In Guidis it’s usually not a problem I’d say as the shaft is usually very narrow.

Noy sure when it happened but I found myself considering this Thedi coat to wear with some cream turtleneck, tan corduroy trousers and JMM sunglasses and try to look like a less cool UrbanComposition.

I like both; I’d go w the lows
FWIW I picked these up recently in lows.

TTS in my size 42, if not a little on the large side. Certainly, accommodating to the foot as I can wear thicker socks. Wish the sole was more yellow than brown. Looking forward to rotating these in. @malcb33

Does the shininess of a material affect it's wearability? I have a pair of black nylon(?) swim trunks and like the idea of wearing it with anything and everything. It has a slight sheen to it and my wife says it makes it looks a little out of place with a short sleeve button up.

I didn't think anything of it before but now it's stuck in my head. Is this the case? It's not shiny like dress shoes and only has a slight sheen. Don't practically all swim trunks have at least some glossiness to it due to the materials generally used (nylon/poly)?

If so are there general rules to follow? Such as you can only wear it with tops with sheen (silk/viscose/rayon) or it only works with matte tops?
