That's definitely not an easy one to wear. I like it and own it, but it's not one that I reach for very often.
I know! I don't think I will be buying it. I can wear Yatagan every day (which is supposed to be challanging but I don't see that at all) but I can't see myself wearing this one.

Today is Profumum Roma Ambra Aura. Love it.

I am waiting on samples of Hermes's mens fragrances and the Rania J line. I am really excited to try Bel Ami and T. Habanero.

Rania J's line is pretty good, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of fragrance.

If you haven't, you should check out more of Profumum Roma. That line is one of my favorites. They're all quite luxurious.

Today is Christian Dior Mitzah.

I tried a bunch. I agree, it’s a great brand. I own Ambra Aura and Arso. I liked Vir but not quite enough to own, and thought there was too much overlap with Arso on drydown. Fumidus was just too much for me. I thought I’d like Olibanum and thought it’d be a more long lasting CdG Avignon but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

Those that I've sampled from the house have been somewhat linear IMHO. Was not inspired to purchase any full bottles.

They are linear, but with Ambra Aura and Arso, I like them so much I don't mind.
I don't understand why that would be a problem. Some fragrances ARE linear, and they are intended to be. I don't see how that's a point of criticism, especially when the accords are built the way Profumum Roma builds them. Linearity just rewards a different way of experiencing a perfume--a different kind of exploration--and there isn't a "right" way to experience a perfume.

I'd much rather have a fragrance that remains linear with an accord that I love instead of a perfume with a strong opening that fades into a garbage, chemical-y base, which we get so much of in so many popular perfumes these days.

Today is Christian Dior Eau Noire.

Yes, exactly this. If I love the opening… and the opening keeps going… isn’t that a good thing? 😁

I wholeheartedly agree that a linear fragrance is not always a bad thing, especially if one finds the accord really appealing. I didn't intend to imply that linearity is always a problem nor an outright strike against a fragrance - and certainly not with a medium that is so highly subjective and that comes down to personal tastes/preference. Someone could wear straight ISO-E Super alone and if they love it, good for them.

To clarify - my personal take on the Profumum Roma scents that I have tried, is that I guess their accords did not wow me to the degree to set them apart against other fragrances I own and love that I also consider somewhat linear. For example, I find Christian Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (either the 2012 or 2017 versions) somewhat linear, but also masterfully composed. I could say the same for vintage Chanel Egoiste, and maybe Guerlain's Vetiver.

I’m working my way through the Rania J sample pack now.

I already know I like Ambre Loup.

T. Habanero seems to disappear on my skin almost immediately. I don’t like it as much as other tobacco scents I’ve tried.

Shah’ryar is a nice fruit and oud mix… but maybe too fruity. I’m going to try it for a couple of days.

I’m afraid to try Oud Assam on a work day lol.

Today's scent - a literal blast from the past, as it's been long out of production - Bernard Lalande.
