There was a shop called Sandler's in Hammond, Indiana. Old man Sandler sold me my first pair of real leather shoes. He said to me; "these are shoes"! If I recall they were Nunn Bush, pebble grained bluchers. I loved that guy. He was so honest and authentic. He always treated me fairly. Later in life, I started purchasing Church's shoes on Wabash in Chicago. Terry and his staff were great to talk with and taught me about Church's. I have six pairs of them right now from back in the day. I just had to share these fond memories when I saw this particular post. Please understand.

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching
