Anyone here received the dress chino yet? I got my package yesterday, but the cream chino I ordered turned out to be cream shorts. :D

Also got the indigo/cream work shirt and a brown scquare scarf. The work shirt may be one of my favorite shirts from now. I really like the style and the fabric feels like it is bulletproof and indestructible. The square scarf could be a touch softer around the neck, but I like it under a shirt or shirt and v-neck.

Just received my standard sportsman in ecru. A size L was returned so managed to pick that up for 50% off. Am usually a “M” in a lot of stuff, took the risk on a “L”. Glad I did! The fit is amazing, will definitely be buying more knitwear from Rubato!

Did just receive my cream dress chinos and they fit very nicely in the waist, which is what I was concerned about. I sized down from my typical 50 to a 48.

I love the color and don’t think it is actually too yellow/warm. The cotton fabric is fairly substantial and I think would work very well as a four season.

Overall I am happy but will reserve fit notes when they are back from the tailor, as of now I am just having them hemmed and a cuff put on.

Finally got to try the sage dress chinos on and I’ve got to say they are made very well. The fabric feels very sturdy and sufficiently thick for a four-season option. They are tapered in the waist and hip area and high enough that they are very comfortable and I appreciate the extra width in around the thighs. As others, I also sized down from 48 to 46.

That said, I am not entirely convinced that they are not too wide for me. Below are a couple quick fit pics. I would really appreciate your thoughts on that!

I am thinking that after getting them hemmed and cuffed, and actually wearing shoes on would balance things out though...

Not too wide at all. Give them a try for a while. You can always have the legs slimmed if you dislike it. It’s not a difficult job for a tailor and they can keep the cuffs.

Waiting on my dress chinos. I didn’t size down… and you all are having me second guess myself!

Hmm, maybe slimming the legs just a little might be good? But as the previous poster said, give them a try for a while and see.
I'm a bit worried because I got the same trousers but I'm quite skinny so I wonder how it will look on me. Won't be able to get my hands on them for the next two weeks as I am travelling.

Not only Rubato is increasing their prices well above inflation. This seems to be a trend among high end brands. Drake’s is being mentioned all the time. Two of the brands I buy from time to time (Loro Piana and A&S) have increased their prices between 20% and 30% last year. I still can afford them, but won’t buy from them again unless at (heavy) discount. They are surely targeting a client whose net worth has surely increased in proportion. That’s clearly not me.

I really like the look of their standard crew neck. Does anyone have a recommendation for a cheaper alternative? Maybe Besnard? As far as I can tell, they look very similiar.

Do you machine wash your dress chinos? Just received mine and I am pretty unsure if I should just wash it.

Received my chinos in sage, a second-hand V-neck in size M colour fawn and a turtle neck size L in grey. Both M and L seem to work on me.

Problem is: I love the fit. So I am now f***** and will buy more from them.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
