Anyone got any pictures of the dress chinos (not the heavy ones). What’s the fit and the cloth like?

I received one of their work shirts and the threading in some of the buttonholes is so sloppy. One or two of the buttons wouldn't even go through the buttonholes at first due to getting tangled in threads that hadn't been properly trimmed. I had to do quite a bit of work with a pair of scissors. Quite disappointing quality control for a $345 shirt
I had the same issue…

Same for me. Though it's only one thread in buttonholes that was passed across in buttonholes that tangled buttons. All other stiches were great and the quality on the shirts was great in general in all other areas. Wasn't upset too much about the buttonholes, as it was an easy fix and all other stitching looked great.

What I noticed is that in general, all that is Made in Japan has great quality (aside from that one issue with button holes) but most things that are Made In Italy have horrible quality control and have multiple issues very often. All of the goods that were Made in Japan I actually loved the quality on, trousers, shorts, shirts and jeans. Might have been some very minor issues, but all negligible in my opinion with overall finish and quality being very high.

Made in Italy though, another story. E.g. with even the simplest scarves that Rubato did, I had to replace them as there some I received with rolled edges stitching broken, the fabric itself damaged and ripped in multiple places, and the process they use to do the pattern - they use some kind of liquid to decolorize it - it had spilled in multiple places making like decolorizes spills. Rubato Customer Service was amazing though and just replaced everything that was damaged and sent the replacement with next day delivery.

Not to mention the Nonpareil line, with the fabric and knitting issues that were already brought up.

I don't think it's really Rubato's fault here, I think it's a huge trend with things that are Made In Italy in general nowadays. I've noticed the same with other brands, e.g. with B&B when they still were making most of their things in Italy - loose threads, sometimes missing stitching, etc. Not sure if it's about mentality, lower quality work force or something else, but most things coming out of Italy have quality issues as of recent. Not just the clothes too, I have friends working with luxury furniture brands and they have been saying the same. Even luxury pieces that cost tens of thousands of eur come with quality control issues.

I might be wrong here, but I don't think Rubato is doing QC in house - so they might rely on the QC of their factories that produce their garments and receive them already packaged and ready to be sent out. That's why such obvious issues might be slipping their eye - but the factories where they produce goods for sure need a stricter eye on, specifically Italian ones.

I have the black and white work shirt from this season and it’s a favorite for me this summer.

I thought untidy buttonhole stitching was a schtick with work shirts à la run-off chain stitch. I have a work shirt from Engineered Garments that was also like this. Plus, the R shirt doesn’t have this same “issue.”

Can you confirm that the fabric is quite stretchy? I am thinking of sizing down of this one compared to the other work shirts.

I am 175 cm, 78 kg, 102-104 chest, 82-84 cm waist and wear a size M.

It’s not stretchy as the fabric itself per se (it’s linen/cotton blend) But compared to e.g. military satin shirts it feels like it has more stretch and is more roomy (satin doesn’t stretch almost at all and is a lot heavier). The fabric is very airy and light, which just makes it feel less constricted. That being said, using hot iron I stretched my size M to be 1 - 1.5 cm longer.

Okay, thank you. So better keep the regular size. May I ask for your size/weight/measurements?

189 cm, 84 kg now, 106 cm chest. I used to go for L work shirts before - but while the length is good, it's too wide to wear tucked, so I size down to M for work shirts and go for L for all other Rubato shirts. But hey, if you're really unsure, just get both and return one that fits worse.

I am with him on this, having to do the whole dance of exchanging an item a few times until I get to the correct one multiple times, I do not recommend it.

Also, I have similar measurements to yours and based on my experience with Rubato, I have had to size down one size on most items.

I already have 2 work shirts in size M (knits and sweats in M too) and while they have a fairly loose fit particularly in the waist, there is not that much room in the chest and arms to size down I am afraid. It may work in size S for me, but having a loose fit shirt which is almost tight at some areas or may restrict movements is kinda non sense I think. Probably I am stuck between sizes and yes having both sizes would be useful to decide.

I wear them tucked in with a T-Shirt underneath most of the times and I would say they fit the same as they show on their site. So maybe still the right size for me, but I am just not tall enough to wear them untucked. I am not sure if 2 cm shorter when sizing down will fix this and how the width of the shirt will change this.

Got the heavy crew in french navy and some more shirts (raglan & regular T-shirt in nuage & in trouville) Very happy with the heavy crew, actually feels kind of warm and very densely knitted. Comparing to my other cotton sweaters, this one seems warmer & heavier, though just by weight it's doesn't feel like I'm wearing something heavy! The drape is very nice too. Got lucky I guess - no issues with any of the loose threads - quality seems great.

The nonpareil raglan shirt in trouville seems the most relaxed of all - interesting that doesn't have a hem at the bottom, making me thing it should be worn as a regular t-shirt - just draping over the trousers - but it still gets narrower to about 52 cm in the opening - so it just bunches up on my hips. Might be the idea - but I just stretched it out a bit and now it drapes over. The fabric has white cotton specks all over - guess this is one of the hand farmed signs - but doesn't look too nice to my eye with just random white specs in random places on blue fabric - carefully pulled out a few that were bothering me the most.

The other is the regular t-shirt in nuage had some issues with knitting kind of messed up in a number of areas - wider gaps between threads, not very neat, a bit scrambled, etc. But I can live with it, won't be exchanging anything. It feels more dressy than the raglan shirt - it's also in some places finished nicer than the raglan shirt - e.g. edges of the chest pocked look a lot more nicely finished than the raglan shirt's edges. I also feel that the ribbed collar was just a touch more thick on the regular t-shirts. Guess it's from a different batch.

I'm thinking of buying an officer's chino. I'm not sure about the rise though. The website says it sits on the natural waist, but the front rise in the sizing chart seems rather low for that. Is it a real high rise (which I'd want) or is it just a mid rise?

I want to get one as well soon - I'd say it's seems like a mid rise, not really a high rise. On promo pictures and pairs Oliver wears on IG looks mid rise too.

My issue is that I'm tall and skinny (186cm, 65kg) and I can't find a good chino with the features I want. I need an alternative for my Jeans and Flannels...
