Thoughts (in order):
1. Fuckkkkkkkkkkk those are pretty.
2. Why is the leather rumpled?
3. It's light and patent leather.
4. Yep...those are just plain sexy.

@VRaivio or @Wood can you let me know if the sole channels are open or closed? They look to be a bit of a mix, from what I can tell in the pictures. Definitely more closed than what I consider a normal open channel, but perhaps not quite closed.

They are closed, what you are seeing is just decoration to obscure the seam that is made when they close the channel. Here are some closeup photos that show the detail:

ˆThe new Rozsnyai homepage, which is still pending, will include a list of the latest medals the company has won on international shoemaking fairs, and some snaps of the prize-winning pairs. The site will go live later this year, but I don't have the exact date.

The site, at least on my end, definitely is newer, though it does appear as though it is still in progress. It is definitely a noted improvement already!

Ordered my MTO on 1st June, shipped on 4th July and arrived on 11th July. All in about 6 weeks from commission to taking delivery. I will say that is fast considering the design I've asked require patina.

Inspired by Shoegazingblog Jesper's bespoke maftei pair, I brought my own lizard skin over to Rozsnyai store and ask if they can make up something similar. They are happy to obliged as always. After browsing through their display, I chose one of their Austro-Hungarian classic round toe last which is broader and rounder at the toe shape. I opt for hidden sewn with fudging as well as leather sole with rubber slip piece add on , which is kinda like their standard sole type.

The construction is very good, I can see the stitching and the welt are neatly done. Patina is all right considering they are trying to achieve what I've shown them. You can still see some patchy shade of color tone but it's ok with me since I intend to darken them further using cream. Fit is spot on, nearly perfect when I test fit them at home. Overall am satisfied.

The last is a bit beefy for my taste (admittedly a subjective critique), but everything else looks stunning. Well done on the selection, and well done Rozsnyai

Yap have to agree that the toe shape is subjective. Actually I am complementing if I should go for such last. Since this is the first time I am doing something up from another Austro Hungarian shoemaker other than Vass, I guess I should give it a try...

It's definitely something that need getting used to....

Just posted a review of some Rozsnyai Double Monk boots I purchased in Burgundy Shell Cordovan on Reddit. See this link.

Rozsnyai is a great manufacturer--I highly recommend them to folks looking for an alternative to Vass

.

Time to groupthink an MTO if anyone is interested. Or is that crowd source? Anyway, I've decided to give Rozsnyai a try as I need another shoe maker the name of which I don't know how to pronounce.

In an effort to get something different, I'm looking at these boots:

I'd remove the medallion from the toe.

Overall look I'm going for is something of a retro/Carnaby Street sort of thing.

My questions are about the last and the color.

I need to pick a different last because the 600 won't work for me according to the folks at Rozsnyai.

So I'm considering the 333 (like the great photos above).

Another option is the 134 last, like this:

The squared toe is something quite different for me, and I probably can't be sure if I'll like it until I see it on my feet. I'm tempted for just that reason, and that I tend to rounder toes in general.

Colors: Brown? Burgundy? Tan? Burnishing?

Anyone want to play?

Too real. On a serious note though the side zip with a square toe might give the boot a bit of a western feel to it. Though ultimately it would depend on how you style it. Personally I would stay away from out and out square toe lasts.

Right, that's part of what appeals to me. It would be sort of a Hungarian urban cowboy thing maybe? Maybe not. My concern is that the toe height as it comes down from the vamp will be too slim. Looks ok to me in the example photo but it looks quite tapered in several other versions of the 134 shown on their site. Hard to judge too how this will look on my fairly large and slightly wider than usual feet.

Edit: oh and thanks for playing!

You're right, it does look quite slim in the other photos on the, especially those eel shoes. You can always ask Rozsnyai themselves, I doubt they would steer you wrong. But I think if that's the look you're going for it should be ok. I mean plenty of people with flippers for feet order slim profile shoes. It would be a unique make-up for sure.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
