We'll see how it plays out. Should make this thread more interesting, theres always plenty of basic stuff I like at mr. porter that is horrendously overpriced.

That surprises me. Most of their stuff is just really nice basics.

I tend to get all my basics from the indie stores like Epaulet and Albam etc. I mean the stuff on Mr Porter is probably just worth it at 50% off, but I'm trying to avoid that type of spending; if I need something I'd rather buy something that's worth it at full price. For me, basics should be something that you need, rather than a splurge. This way i can cut down splurging

Dunno whether that makes sense or not. There's also the fact that i like to support the smaller guys.

Early access to 30% off is nothing to get worked up over; it's the 80% off clearance you want to be first in line for.

early access to 52 percent off for a tiny sized person is something, though. small sizes (specially shoes :( ) go so fast! still waiting to see other ppls "First refusal rights" purchases

what i think is cheesy is when its a big deal for like 25 percent off. gravity pope called me today to tell me of their sale after closing hours this week for a whopping 25 percent off regular priced stuff...bfd when tax is 14 percent

Retail in Vancouver is so overpriced. The only time I buy stuff here is if I'm too impatient to order online.

exactly. i almost never have buyer's remorse from my online purchases. but my impulse ones from roden and gpope sometimes leave me "meh"....those need to go in a sales thread if i can ever overcome the insurmountable laziness that impending work makes me feel..

I remember having to pay 15% tax on everything for 20 years. Now I only pay 5% :) (in province of course)

I'm looking forward to what Roden Gray brings in this fall. They're dropping their women's clothing so it's just going to be all men's.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
