Looking for lightweight pre-washed blue jeans. Loose in the thigh, slightly elongated crotch, tapered, and cropped. Soft and comfy. Don't want heavy selvage stuff, but don't want H&M. What are my options? Thrift some 501's and be daring with a sewing machine?

MI cropped carrot fit?
Haven't tried them but I have the "AMI fit" washed denim and they fit that description minus the crop.

RG 5 year fade?

Also, tapering jeans is a lot easier than it looks, I vote for that. DIY thread will help you

None of the RG fits have a very high rise or strong taper through, type 3's are the loosest and the knee to hem is very straight, inseam isn't cropped and rise is only around 10" in a 34.maybe getting come 501 ct's and just having them cropped?

Has anyone else noticed that every time someone asks for a pant recommendation, it always involves loose thighs, a semi drop crotch, and a strong taper

Takeaway: the market is not yet flooded. Launch your droopy pant startup ye stylefarmer, and make your millions. We are waiting with open legs

Thanks! But does Levi's denim still feel like sandpaper soaked in fabric softener?

I was gonna say this. Cheap enough to experiment with. I actually thrifted a pair of cropped faded black 501's recently and I'm intending to taper them.

Probably, this is a completely blind recommendation, which I'm usually against. I was just throwing it out there since you mentioned 501s as the starting point
