Hello all,

I was wondering between RLP and Tom Ford for my first suit I have been Tom Ford's suit fan since then. However, after visiting two stores at Beverly Hill, I decided to go with RLP as I felt their store are really organized and looks nicer compare to Tom Ford's store. RLP also offered me good customer service, I have bought several items from them. Long story short, I wanted to try out MTM of RLP to see how it goes and because they also have lower starting price for MTM at 2k7$. I wanted a simple 2 pieces black suit with peak label from RLP. I made appointment at store, then picked the fabric (barathea wool), I specified that I wanted a strong structured shoulder with slim waist which is similar to Tom Ford silhouette and waited for them to get the price from their Italy factory. I got a call today saying the suit is 5k2 after tax which is close to Tom Ford price. Should i go with Tom ford or RLP at this point? does anyone has any experience with both brand at all? any thoughts or replies are much appreciated. Thank you!

if it's made to measure then both suits will likely turn out great. I personally would go for Tom Ford.

Both are ok, RLPL is made by Saint Andrews and TF by Zegna, both are nice suits but nothing special to me.

RLPL is made by Caruso if you opt for hand tailored MTM.

Saint Andrews makes the pricier hand made MTM (roughly double the price).

Thanks all for your comments. I really appreciate it. I decided to go with RLPL since i like their culture and branding more as i feel it has American classic soul (just personal feeling haha). It was long process thou, i had to go back and forth multiple time. Maybe because it was my first time. The guy who contacted me for price and fabric was not the measurement guy. Once i made full deposit, they will process the appointment with the measurement guy in Beverly Hill. It was a bit tricky to figure out the appointment with him because he was not available on the day i off work. However, he was really experienced and knew what he is doing. I asked him alot of question thou. I picked the barathea wool for my suit with little bit shiny. It is a 2 pieces suit. I waited for 2 months for suit. Last week i went to the store for first fitting. It was really nice. All handmade in Italy. I have couple pictures below. Let me know what do you guys think. The suit was light and very comfortable.

Which suits do you like? TF always stands out when I see anyone it. I find most suits just look generic. high end or not. they don't have that magic a TF suit has when I see a man in one.

I really like that suit on you. I agree that the TF style, the ticket pocket, peak lapels, etc. makes the suit more elegant.

I also agree that you need to cinch the waist it a bit. Did you opt for surgeon cuffs, working buttonholes, etc? Double vent?

Hi,
Thank you! I also think about the waist as well, I can still let them know when i have next fitting appointment. I want to cinch the waist a bit, but i also afraid that i will gain weight in the future for my belly haha. Yes I ordered working button hole and double vent
